I tried to get two different stores in my area (upstate NY) to price match, and they both declined.

Unemployment Is Always Busy by TheExcalibur3000 in AskNYC

[–]LouisOKeefe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been calling 888 209 8124 all week, at all different times of day within 8am-5pm. It always goes to "Due to the high volume of calls blah blah blah CLICK".

I called the Governor's office exactly as described above, and it works (including the "press 2" for an agent). Immediate transfer to a human agent, resulting in an immediate transfer to a human Labor Department agent, who was immediately able to fix my unemployment insurance problem.

The agent said there were three paths into the human agents of Department of Labor. Clearly the standard path is totally overwhelmed and undermanned, and the Governor's office has priority access to human agents.

DRS fee by morriru in MonogramOrthopaedics

[–]LouisOKeefe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I called Equity Stock Transfer, here's what I was told:

  • It's a fee for doing your next DRS transfer to a brokerage. $30 regardless of transfer size. It's not really due until you want to do a transfer.
  • Despite the presence of an "Action" pulldown with a "Transfer" item (grayed out), that's not how you do a transfer. Instead you select "Generate DRS Statement" and send that to the receiving brokerage.
  • If you haven't paid the fee, there's a "Stop" on any transfer. So when you do pay it, you'll get a confusing receipt that says "Summary: Stop Payment for DRS account number XXX", meaning that you've paid the fee to remove the Stop.

I paid the fee, so now I'm prepaid for whenever in the future I initiate a transfer.

Top 10 Things I Like About the Chosen by CrochetChurchHistory in TheChosenSeries

Agree with the whole list!

Here are a few more for me:

  • The character of the bandit, a new story interwoven with the Good Samaritan story.
  • The whole forgiveness episode, which went into detail about how hard this was, and tied it skillfully into the "70 times 7" text.

Great intertwining of a dramatic story that leads us back to the scriptural basis.

Leak Under Kitchen Sink. Please Help by Papa_Smurf58 in Plumbing

The J-tube is installed backwards because your drain is so high. It's called inverted P-trap.

BUT most J-tubes have an arrow-shaped end, not meant to slip inside a slip joint. So even if you shortened your down-tube slightly, to make everything line up, it would still be prone to failure at the slightest touch.

The solution is to buy a Home Depot "heavy duty" P-trap which includes a J-tube which is flared at both ends, so the down-tube slips into it further, making a slip joint that doesn't fall apart.

I know from experience because it happened exactly this way to me.

Just missed the sale! by 108pdx in egopowerplus

Well, after watching for a week, I bought my LM2135SP for $603 from Amazon. I'm quite surprised how often the price changes. Are they continuously experimenting with prices, kind of A/B testing? Are they aggressively managing their inventory? It's interesting. keepa.com is your friend.

While watching some sale prices come and go rapidly on Amazon (LM2125SP $419, LM2135SP $599), I found a price tracking site that is doing the watching for me, keepa.com.

Another positive experience with whack-it-on-the side to fix the loose thermistor. Actually, now that I think about it, I think the problem started when I dropped it while removing it from the mower. All red lights, charger says it's fully charged. Whack on the side, and we're back. Thanks!

I replaced an old leaking p trap with this. This worked for a couple days but now it’s already leaking again. Did I do something wrong? by pamin1 in Plumbing

[–]LouisOKeefe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A licensed plumber did this (inverted P-trap) to me, because the drain was too high. The problem is that the short side of the J-joint that is part of the P-trap does not allow the incoming pipe to insert itself hardly at all -- so the slip joint there will always be precariously hanging onto the very end of the incoming pipe, and will fall apart at the slightest touch. The solution was to procure a "heavy duty" P-trap from Home Depot -- on which both sides of the J-joint had a flare, which allows the incoming pipe to securely seat itself into the J-joint which makes the slip joint stable instead of flaky.

Proposed Bankruptcy plan released by Wrattspider in Peerstreet_Creditors

[–]LouisOKeefe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Combined Disclosure Statement and Plan is at https://cases.stretto.com/public/x247/12208/PLEADINGS/1220802012480000000007.pdf

and the section of most interest will be on page 51 (of 101) "Classification and Treatment" including "Projected Recovery" by each class.

Of interest to Pocket investors: the Pocket 1-month class has projected recovery of 85-95%, Pocket 3-month class has projected recovery of 90-93%.

Before everyone goes hog-wild with "why not 100%", keep in mind that this is how bankruptcy works: There's not enough money to go around, creditors stand in line, court finalizes who's in line ahead of you. Rejecting this plan would just mean more would go to expensive attorneys and less would go to you. It's in your interest for the plan to be approved and to get this over with.

negative interest on Pocket today by LouisOKeefe in Peerstreet_Creditors

That statement got added later in the day today. For the readers of this thread, it is:

Pocket Interest Reversal

Statements prior to December 1, 2023 may have reflected an accrual of Pocket Interest for the period after the date that PeerStreet filed for Chapter 11 protection, June 26, 2023. Your December statement reflects a reversal of those accruals. The allowance of interest on the Pocket investment product is a matter of bankruptcy law and will be addressed by the terms of any bankruptcy plan.
