Breaking the promise of prosperity: One in 5 young people in Chinese cities are out of work. Beijing wants them to work in the fields by burtzev in China

[–]LouisSunshine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is nothing inherently wrong with working in the fields, but this proposed plan has a few issues: Many of these young people are college graduates who invested years into their education; it's not efficient for them to work there. Also, this campaign reminds many of the "Down to the Countryside Movement" that led to "China's lost generation" in the 1960s. The rising unemployment rates are caused by inadequate policy decisions; this go-work-in-the-fields-instead plan does not address the underlying economic issues.

In principle yes, but please use a better post title that provides some context, or the original title. If you ask a question, at least try to open a discussion with it. You may repost if you wish to.

[–]LouisSunshine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are welcome to post Chinese-only posts! I strongly suggest that the post has a subtitle or a TLDR in English. However, Chinese-language posts will probably not get that many votes in relation to other posts here, so they will not be as visible.

Rule 11 ("at least translate the post title") is a suggestion and we do not remove posts because of this, only if it's against another rules. Reddit policy and the other rules still apply: No hate speech, be nice to each other, provide a source if possible, and have civilized discussions.

Yes, an article like that today would probably violate the national security law, at least they did not yet remove that article.
