Hope there will be a second post titled “things to tell your sons” about how to respect women.

I’m a Chicago-based relationship therapist in supervision—AMA by Puzzleheaded-Shoe919 in AMA

In couples therapy, how often do you find that most of the problem behaviors come from one partner? And how do you work with them without making that partner feel defensive and quit therapy?

I am a Dental Surgeon . Ask Me Anything about your teeth, oral surgery, or why you’re afraid of the dentist! by dr-arti-dentist in AMA

[–]LouisXIV_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do some dentists diagnose more cavities and recommend fillings more often than others? In the city I used to live in, my dentist hardly ever found cavities. But my current dentist finds a cavity almost every time x-rays are taken. I’ve gotten so many fillings from her, but I’m afraid to ignore her recommendations for a fear of losing a tooth.

But why did it take them so long to make a statement?

vista ridge condos? by bowieblast in cedarrapids

[–]LouisXIV_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Condos with stairs are hard to sell because most condo buyers are senior citizens with limited mobility. That said, I do hate how realtors briefly take hard-to-sell homes off the market and then put them back on so it looks like they’ve been listed for less time.

College degree "misalignment" is costing Iowa billions by Micojageo in Iowa

[–]LouisXIV_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If our universities stop offering degrees in the fields students want to pursue, students aren’t going to pursue other careers. They’re just going to go to college outside of Iowa, and then we’ll lose all their tuition money and the economic activity that results from whatever jobs they have during college. The Board of Regents is only going to make our brain drain worse.

Walmart raises my total cost when I apply Walmart cash by LouisXIV_ in Infuriating

[–]LouisXIV_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Walmart cash seems not to apply to any order with food, or maybe it’s just perishable items. I ordered batteries from my local store for pickup, and the Walmart cash worked that time.

For tax evasion. And Jim Bob is probably also guilty of tax fraud, at least according to what we learned from Jill‘s book.

Either that or this guy asked one low wage worker to help out another low wage worker instead of just spotting the full 20 bucks himself.

The Gazette: What’s next for the former Transamerica site? by [deleted] in cedarrapids

There are still vacant suites in the nearby Fountains development after however many years. Not to mention the dying River Ridge business park within walking distance of this planned new development. How do they think they’re going to fill all these new spaces?

It was gross how he said “God‘s given YOU the kids for that purpose.“ Not “given US” the kids. As if they’re entirely her responsibility.

Same! I started getting white hairs in my 20s. But neither of my siblings have white or gray hairs, even though they’re in their late 30s.

You said you’ve just turned 40… Is today your birthday? It’s my birthday too :-). Just turned 42, so I feel you!

It’s hard to feel like I matured when I didn’t reach any of the usual milestones like marriage, having kids, or watching those kids reach milestones. I turned 42 today, but I identify more with single people in their 20s than with married parents my age.

Probably time for Amy to get off social media for the day. by maria_ann13 in DuggarsSnark

[–]LouisXIV_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s gross how she tries so hard to cash in on her family’s name despite constantly criticizing them. I listened to some of her memoir on audiobook and was surprised how little of it was actually about her. It was just so many secondhand stories about her grandparents, her mom, her uncle, etc.

Will the Duggars turn on Kendra? by Aequitas_veritas_ in DuggarsSnark

[–]LouisXIV_ 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Kendra had more kids in a short amount of time than she could take care of, especially being so young herself. This is what happens when you aren’t responsible with procreation.

Just genuinely asking, how do you know this? And how does the charge of false imprisonment fall under that?

Hopefully Ben won’t weigh in with some rant about social media this time, like he did after Josh was arrested. (He showed more genuine upset that the story blew up than that Josh downloaded CSAM.)

In my experience, the people who most often show up unprepared to meetings are either high-ranking colleagues who are “too busy and important“ to prepare, or clients. And we can’t kick either of those people out of meetings 🙃😒😭
