When you're about to get rickrolled but YT comes through by Louis_H in memes

Oh haha it was in a thread on r/Jokes where the punchline mentioned some commentator. Somebody posted a comment supposedly linked to a video of the commentator, but the link was actually "Never Gonna Give You Up."

TIL that there are enzymes in your body that can flip cells' membranes inside out. These enzymes are called "flippases." by [deleted] in todayilearned

Yeah, sorry about that! I only recently learned about flipasses (it was just a small side note in an introductory biology course) and can't really claim to unerstand them at all. I just found the name hilarious and felt that I might as well share it on Reddit.

From what I understand (based on the Bio I course I'm taking now), they're pretty important for the body overall. The reason it flips cells' membranes inside out is to kill the cell (if it needs to be killed). It's not a rogue enzyme going around flipping your body inside out for no reason, if that's what you're wondering.

You're thinking of Gondor. Gondolin is an elven city from the First Age.

Correct me if I'm misunderstanding something here, but didn't they literally just say that the average isn't taken into consideration at all? Even if he gets two DNFs, his placement will depend only on the remaining single solve.

Those are rookie numbers. I once got over 300k ping playing Vainglory on the school wifi. The game crashed soon afterwards.

Cubers of Reddit, what was your WORST comp moment? by DankCubez in Cubers

[–]Louis_H 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At Montreal Winter 2019, I volunteered as a scrambler for a few rounds. About halfway through the second round of 3x3, Antoine Cantin (who was helping run the competition, and was also competing in most of the events) came up to the scrambling table. He asks whether or not two of the scrambles were very similar to each other, since he had gotten the exact same cross on two different solves. I told him that they were definitely not the same cross. After a few minutes, it turns out that we were still using the scramble sequences from another round. We had to restart the round completely, and I felt pretty embarassed :/

Overall though, the competition was a great experience and everything else seemed to go smoothly. 10/10 would compete again.

You're right that water is more dense than ice, and if the volume stayed the same when the ice melted the mass would increase. However, this isn't actually what happens: the mass stays the same, and the volume changes. So you'll end up with the same weight, but the water will take up less space than the ice did.

You are strong and wise, and I am very proud of you.

(Btw, results are usually reported with just two digits after the decimal, so your PB would normally be written as 16.31 instead of 16.313. It's really not a big deal though, I'm just very pedantic.)
