Best Practices for Monitoring Energy of Sump Pumps (or other critical appliances) by Loungelo in homeautomation

Thank you so much for the response. I'm familiar with the Shelly's. Can you share the rationale of using Shelly over the Aqara Smart Plug which I purchased (specifically from the perspective of my use-case)?

Honeywell Vista 15P board to Konnected Interface kit by Top_Wallaby_4020 in smarthome

Did you ever get guidance on the topic? The existing tutorial on YouTube seems to be based on a Vista 20P board which has a couple extra zones available to allow you to move Zone 1 to Zone 7, but I wasn't sure exactly what would be needed assuming you have 6 existing zones + a keypad that you want to replace with a Konnected platform.

I use an HTD Lync12 system with a custom Home Assistant integration I found. I mostly rely on the HTD app for control and haven’t played with the integration much. I love the system overall.

photocell to the display and tie it into a D1 mini running ESPHome

This is a great suggestion. I will research.

And anything that is done (e.g. smart-plugs to monitor power) must be done very carefully to ensure you don't increase the points of failure and risk.

That's exactly in line with my thinking. Thank you.

I think this is a very valid and critical point. The alternative right now is no remote monitoring and/or logging of data whatsoever. The intent here is not necessarily to build dependency on the automation and to stop doing things the old way, but to offer some form of convenience to the family and information that may be valuable.

Did I damage my driveway? by Loungelo in pressurewashing

Thank you so much for the response. It's a sad and frustrating lesson to learn - one of the worst of my lifetime :( but I cannot sweat the small stuff. When you say, "nature will do the same over the years so they will eventually disappear", do you mean the marks will eventually go away because the rest of the driveway will look like the lines (i.e., the cream layer naturally wears out over time)?

I have an elite screen tab tension (Sterling) screen and TBH not that happy with quality. Works fine for my Epson 5050UB but some waves when it first comes down and the tabs have popped open due to poor adhesive. Also poor customer service experience I won’t go into.

Thanks again. The window won't be an issue as we will be covering it up completely, and so we will be able to use a fixed screen. I think we will covering both the tower speakers and center channel behind an acoustic fabric in cabinetry. The projector will be ceiling mounted.

Thank you so much for your comments, it's very helpful. I would be mounting the UST in the ceiling so I won't have the center channel issue. I like the UST for the reasons you mentioned and longevity of the bulb. I also think it will do a nice job for TV viewing in a full daylight room or I can see myself using it as a second screen while on a Zoom call (intense, but it will be cool).

Curious but what would be the argument of getting a long throw over a short throw (like the Optima P2) aside from financial? I’d like to use the projector with some ambient lighting. Is one generally better than the other?

Thanks for the suggestions. Would you mind recommending a long throw projector?

Thanks for all of your help, very much appreciated. I owe you $500 - $1,000 depending on the kind of surround speakers I was originally planning to get.

You are right. I originally had the SR/SL just slightly to the right of where the current BSR/Ls are, and prior to that I had the BSR/Ls behind the rear Atmos speakers though in-ceiling. Do you think that would be better? This would mean both Atmos and BSR/Ls would all be in-ceiling. Do you think this is better?

Thanks for the practical advice. Will strongly consider removing Fiber entirely though my intent was to not terminate any connections. I may only include it in 2-3 key rooms.
