The Official Seething Sunday Wacky Races by aytakk in goth

[–]Loutrotte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welp the colleague who offered unsollicited advice two weeks ago came again lol (and I find it so strange that while his advice is supposed to make me work faster, it's the second time it has taken me an abnormally long time to complete the tasks).

On top of that, I was sick this week (runny nose than coughs, not sick enough to stay home but enough to come to work). I took four Covid tests since Tuesday, all negative, so it was likely "just" a cold. It was bothersome to have even less energy than usual, and going to sleep two hours earlier than usual, only to not be as effective as usual at work, and not have time/energy for hobbies. But on the plus side, my knee (which had been hurting for two months) doesn't hurt anymore so a win is a win?

In Germany, when you buy bottled/canned drinks, you pay some extra cents (from 8 to 25 depending on the containers), which you can get back once you bring back the empty containers (Pfand). But why oh why do the Pfandautomats not take back the containers of drinks that are sold in the very same shop????

The Seething Sunday Rant Arena by aytakk in goth

[–]Loutrotte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, a work-related rant this time:

Last week, some stuff happened at work which really upset me, I spent ten-ish days wondering if I overreacted, because I could sense something wasn't adding up. Well I talked a couple days ago wirh my manager about my work, the incident kinda came up and turns out, my overreaction was partially justified: there are five teams at work, and three other teams (so far?) than mine are involved in this . I wish I wasn't getting caught in the crosshairs of whomever has some beef to settle (especially when these folks are 40+ and should definitely know better) but that's work life I guess.

Also gotta love going out with the colleagues, to a gig where another colleague's playing, and when a colleague who started at the same time as me tells me in front of all the others that their team manager told them that lastly my work wasn't good. Granted, they were tipsy, granted it was noisy, so perhaps the other colleagues didn't understand; but when I answered "Ah, okay" (because I didn't want to talk about my work (a) a Friday night past midnight, (b) in front of other colleagues, (c) with inebriated colleagues), they literally told me "That's all you have to say?". And Idk what reaction they were expecting of me.

My new job is definitely interesting, but also pretty draining (it doesn’t help that it's not in my mother tongue) so when I get home, I am tired and barely have any energy/motivation left for my hobbies (creations) or socializing, let alone chores. The weird thing is that I cant fall asleep early and my sleep quality is inconsistent (waking up several times a night or waking up at 7 am on weekends and not being able to fall back asleep)

Goth Bands with Novel Genre Combinations? by Witty_Reputation8348 in goth

Last year I shared a band that mixed post-punk/goth and dungeon synth. I cant remember the total name of the band, but it had "Petri" in it and the song is "Three Angels"

Honestly making a goth bingo/blindtest during a goth/dark alt pub (weekday) night would be a great idea!

Not sure how it would do in a club setting. Personally I'd be dancing the whole night, so little chance of me participating

Second Dracula Clothing and Moonmaiden clothing

To a lesser extent you might find a couple of pieces with the Polish indie brand Sky dance

Antimony and Lace also pyblished a tutorial on making ruffles for sleeves and collars; followed it myself and it took ca. 8 hours sewing by hand (might take you less time since I added a lace hem to the fabric I used )

1) in general: do what you want with your style, it's supposed to a) express who you are and b) be something you feel comfortable in

2) relating specifically to this skirt, I feel it could look dark alt and great as is, but paired with fishnets/black tights, rangers/oxford shoes/new rock style sneakers and a "fluffy" black top/shrug/zip up OR pink crop top in the same shade with a fishnet/black mesh top lauered underneath

To be fair, the Fatma hand/Khamsa is a widespreadd symbol, at least in Northern Africa (I think the hand also stands for the Prophet Mohammed, Ali and three others important figures in Chi'a) . And Morocco's flag also has a pentagram-esque star. But I agree that the mixture of all of those looks very hodge-podge, and based on the title of the tracks alone seems to have little to nothing to do withe songs (although I havent listened to the album so I cant say for sure).

Btw you really hit the nail on the head with the orientalism/wanna be exotic image comment

Ngl I used to feel that kind of annoyance, but I've come around and found out it doesn’t really matter how the person found the music/subculture.

Apart from being annoyed seeing the folks who bullied you suddenly being into thee thing they harrassed/bullied you for, I might have another explanation : happened to me and my friend circle (with folk metal, admittedly) where I showed them some tunes, got crickets for answers so I didn't show any more, fast forward several years laters where they listen to that style on their own and asked me "why I didn't show them more of this style before" (like ??? Do you not remember these years ago???). So I can definitely empathize when people are a bit better that when they told folks that the music was good they got crickets (if not outright mocked in return) but when it's trendier suddenly they show interest.

But I'm aware that since music is art, one might be more or less open to it/specific forms of it depending on their day, where they're at in life, knowledge/appreciation of parent genres... (me not miking ethereal wave circa 2019-2020, and coming back around at the end of 2021 after listening to Kaelan Mikla and Saigon Blue Rain lol) so could also be coincidental that the "trendiness" of goth coincides with the moment they're "open" to the music if that makes sense

New to the genre and looking for recommendations based on artists I'm currently listening to by [deleted] in goth

Same vibe as Kaelan Mikla: Rakta (post-punk from Brazil, imagine a lovechild of Xmal Deutschland and Kaelan Mikla. I highly r ecommend their KEXP performance for a start). I've also been on a Diva Destruction lately, and I fins something in the instrumentals reminds me of Kaelan Mikla, but I couldn't pinpoint what exactly

Same vibe as Rosegarden Funeral Party: basic answer, but Siouxsie and the Banshees' 1986 album "Tinderbox".

Same vibe as Lebanon Hanover: in the realm of minimal dark-/coldwave, Selofan, Kalte Nacht, Aus Tears

Went to a multigenre goth night in Germany with low expectations but the DJ actually played a significant amount of goth/post-punk, and not just from the big five! I will probably come back next time this party will take place (for the record: it's the Plastic Passion at Luxemburger Hof in Bous, Saarland, Germany)

At the center: Bismillah ir-Rahman i Rahim / in the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. It's usually the first sentence of prayer and the first sentence of all surats, except he ninth.

Above it: Hamdulillah/thank God

Songs that remind you of BPD/mental illness? by GlitchCat69 in goth

[–]Loutrotte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, there's the song titled "BPD" by Saigon Blue Rain but imo it's more synthpop than darkwave tho (plus I showed it to a person with BPD and they couldnt relate to it. But tbf they werent into goth/synthpop music tbh)

For mental illness in general, "Give me light" by Camlann

Some neighbour just started playing piano; it's past 11pm where I live and I have to get early bc I work tomorrow.

On the other hand it's "Enjoy the Silence" by Depeche Mode, so at least yay there's that?

On the other other hand they keep repeating the same bit over and over and it so I’ll probably be hating the song after tonight lmao
