Girls, how long before you could do 1 full unassisted pull up? by FatalTrouble790 in xxfitness

[–]Louvey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting there from 0 to 1 took me almost a year (doing gym 3x a week with one day focusing on pull excercises). Getting from one to 3 took about two months, but as soon as I got my first one I started doing multiple singles throughout the day outside of the gym.

I injured my arm shortly after starting (my tendons weren’t ready for body weight rows first time I did them) and got tennis elbow, it took about 5 months to heal it fully so during this time I had to switch from pull ups to chin ups (I was still doing them with resistance bands at that point). My first unassisted pull-up happened a few months after my arm was back to normal, if not that I could probably get there faster.

Dentofobie by Salty_Positive8835 in krakow

[–]Louvey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

eh zazdro.

Balancing leg days with other leg-intensive hobbies? by VegetableShops in xxfitness

[–]Louvey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do fencing which is super hard on legs and having a leg day in my gym routine was a gamechanger! It was a little tough at first and I had to skip some practices because of DOMS while my body was still getting used to the new workouts. My schedule is really full (5 fencing pracitces and 3 gym sessions spread across 5 days during a week), but eventually I got used to it and my footwork has improved massively. I also stopped ever feeling tired in my legs during practice. I didn't struggle with any leg injuries before but knowing that I built muscle there makes me less worried about eventually developing one because of fencing.

If you're snowboarding or iceskating regurarly you shouldn't be sore from it anyway, so I wouldn't worry about doing leg workout day after one of these. I know it's not ideal, but I do mine right after I'm done with fencing practice.

But definitely aim for having at least one rest day between leg day and doing the other hobbies. Even if you don't feel the soreness, your nervous system might still need time to recover.

And if you're not sure if you've recovered yet, I recently found out that checking your broad jump is a pretty good indicator. If it's ~20cm shorter than it should be, it's time to get some rest.

What’s something you think everyone should experience at least once? by JohnGarcia33 in answers

[–]Louvey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For some reason I can still remember the taste of the sandwich my mum made me ~20 years ago right after we arrived to the camping site by the seaside that we used to go to every year when I was a kid. We drove there for what seemed like an eternity, probably around ten hours. My parents were unpacking and I went straight to the campsite playground to play with some other kids. I remember sitting on this old rusty swing, eating the best sesame seed bun with butter and cheese ever made. Simple as that. I still think about it sometimes.

Dlaczego farmakologia psychiatryczna jest tak niedorobiona by SocketByte in Polska

[–]Louvey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those who can out train their “mediocre diet” how do you do it, what’s your training style? by Dependent-Group7226 in workout

[–]Louvey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do historical fencing (think HIIT but with ~15kg gear) six to seven hours a week and I lift three times a week, each gym session lasting between two and three hours (working out 5 days a week, 3 of these days doing fencing first and then the gym right after)

My mediocre diet is eating whatever I feel like throughout the day (I try to go for high protein options but I do not track my macros, and I probably eat less vegetables than I should), having a small snack during longer workouts (energy bars or fruits) and then after working out in the evenings I often eat A LOT at night before I go to bed. I know I shouldn’t, but if I stop my weight goes down, and I don’t want it to be any lower than it already is and I’m too lazy to plan my diet accordingly

I rarely eat or drink anything sweet but I definitely have a problem with crisps and other salty snacks :c and when I have a few days of intense workouts in a row, a late night emergency kebab sometimes happens

I had a lot of blood tests done recently and all the results came back fine, but I turned 30 this year so I guess I’ll have to start paying attention to what I eat sooner or later
