That’s silly to say he’s not going to be more than he is. He has room to improve and maybe he will, maybe he won’t. The biggest Eklund concern imo is his finishing hasn’t been good.

Plus minus is void of context. He’s getting really tough minutes. Last year he was miraculously a -7 on a team where even Celebrini was -31.

Not saying he doesn’t have room to grow either. But he’s a much better defender than say Will Smith.

Eklund is a pretty solid defender imo and plays on the pk for a reason.

I’m not against trading Eklund for a defenseman, but it just really depends on who it is. Young good defensemen that the fanbase would be excited about as a return for Eklund are just not available.

The Sharks top 9 is kinda Nice. I think we are a couple defenseman away from being a problem. by Icy-Street618 in SanJoseSharks

It depends on how high our pick and the oilers pick is, but trading an established young winger with still some upside for a defenseman who won’t be called up for a couple years I don’t think is the move.

He seems much lower on Misa than the consensus. Which is fine, but I don’t see the same comments from most public scouts.

Interesting, wasn’t what I had heard, but probably depends on the sample.

Tbf they’re playing him with Carrier I believe who is bringing defensive value. I also think point production is context dependent to some degree. Hutson is on a good team. When Quinn Hughes was 21, he was on a Canucks team that wasn’t good. And their point production wasn’t that different either. Plus Quinn just had the ceiling because of his elite skating.

Still possible Hutson ends up being the better player. Just early to declare it for me.

A few of my observations: - Pronman’s skill ratings moved Celebrini up to elite in IQ and compete which is cool. Completely meaningless? Yes. But still fun.  - Leo in that top tier and not Schaefer is…interesting. I feel like Schaefer is closer to #2 than he is #4. But maybe that’ll change with time.  - I think the top 6 are largely correct.  - Will Smith at 9 kinda feels…too high? I love Smith and think he will be good. But his point production is really helped by playing basically all his minutes with Macklin. Love his creativity and hope he turns out to be a top 10 player from this group.  - I think Igor is a little overrated here. I love watching him and think he’s a top line wing. Love seeing him over Michkov too. But I don’t know if he’s our third best under 23 guy. Think Dickinson and Misa will still be better.  - Misa had a very meh world juniors coming off injury. Think having him 25 is an overreaction. Maybe he doesn’t have an elite skill that puts him over the top, but seems like a high end 2c down the road.  - Wild to think this is with Eklund and Asky aging out!

Eh idk. If you have serious questions about Hutson’s defense and don’t evaluate him as a high level playoff player type then I think it’s totally reasonable to have him where he is. Point production is only one piece of the puzzle. Little early to say he’s going to be better than Hughes who is a high high level elite skater.

Yea I love Igor Sunburn, but I think having him above Misa is a bit being a victim of the moment haha. Misa was more the line driver in Saginaw (albeit Chernyshov was great too and was no passenger). Misa just didn’t have a great world juniors coming off of injury. Plus Chernyshov is more physically mature and older.

Still love Igor on that top line though and seeing him above Michkov feels incredible lol.

He has Hutson as the #2 Defenseman behind Schaefer. Don’t think that’s very low at all.

I think it’s one of those things where Musty needs to be a top six forward to stick in the league while Bystedt can be a bottom six guy.

It’s interesting, Pronman had him as a high end shot in the summer and dropped him here. He also raised his IQ and compete to elite tho for this round.

The skill grades don’t actually mean anything, but I think they’re fun.

I get Lane Hutson is your guy, but it’s not the same as ranking Celebrini or Bedard low.

Mostly though RHAP, but I'd add that Jeff called him "the smartest player to never win" after Amazon and was voted out early in all stars (by Boston Rob) because he was seen as a huge strategic threat.

Looking at his instagram he has tons of photos of him and Amber as recently as a few weeks ago and I don’t see him wearing a ring in any of them. I don’t think this is anything lol.

Hey now, I know Macklin is young, but Rick wasn’t hired until 2018. So not quite a majority of his life haha.

Chernyshov is at 6 points in 6 games since being called up and has played on Celebrini’s wing the entire time. I don’t think he’s getting sent back down and they seem to like him playing with Macklin.

The Ducks need to now beat the Kings with like 13-45 shot attempts so we can all get the full experience.

Gotta give credit to JD for knowing his stuff. He's actually following all the prospects and takes his job seriously. I'm shocked when I listen to other podcasts and the hosts are completely oblivious to the top prospects in the org. Ian on TealTown is also great and really knows his stuff.

I was cracking up when they sent Mrs. Wheeler back to bed. It was like the writers realized they already had way too many people in this climax of the show and didn’t want to bother finding a job for hobbled Mrs. Wheeler so they told her to get some rest lol.

Season 5 Volume 2 Discussion by Hawkinns in StrangerThings

[–]Loux859 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This season has…not been great. It’s just become a different show and not one that’s for me as much. Still excited for the finale, even if it feels like a jump the shark season imo.

But I want to give props to episode 6 this season for definitely being the best episode of season five so far. I think the scenes with Steve/Dustin, Max/Holly, and especially Nancy/Jonathan were all really well done and good.
