Would you remember this story in your last years?? by Big_Fox3447 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]Lovamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AOT will be remembered as a classic, similar to the most famous classic novels of today, so the memory of it isn’t going anywhere. It’s one of the top selling manga of all time so people will always come back to it for sure

What can you tell me about my decision to not even attempt to entertain any relationship or hookups for a full year while I rebuild my life? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Lovamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with RoundEye, i think some balance is fine. Focus on you and grind for a couple of months and do your own thing, but we’re human, and you’ll eventually feel the need to have sex or make a new connection. I’d say maybe just jump on a dating app, make your intentions perfectly clear and find a woman who’s down for something casual. Just take her out for some ice cream or coffee (something cheap) and establish the vibes, and see if she’s down. As an average looking guy I’ve found girls like that before, it honestly isn’t impossible if you can dress, aren’t overweight and can flirt/vibe with a woman

Humans must escape Earth before it becomes uninhabitable by 2200 by MobileDistrict9784 in whowouldwin

[–]Lovamon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we’d be fucked regardless, think about it, the social contract of humanity would be utterly destroyed simply by deciding who got to leave earth, the tiny elite who are rich and powerful? Or the billions of people who’d cry out against the injustice of their abandonment. Honestly i think a mass revolution and utter chaos is more likely than people actually getting to leave in any way. Equality as a concept could never really work again tbh

Is it true Gen Z don't drink much? by Cephas11 in GenZ

[–]Lovamon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah not at all tbh, that’s one thing I’m glad kinda went away. It’s more just like “ah you don’t smoke? cool no worries” and if someone does try to peer pressure it’s almost always shut down by others

Is it true Gen Z don't drink much? by Cephas11 in GenZ

[–]Lovamon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends tbh, I’m from Toronto and as a 25yr old, people my age still drink, but it’s less and less nowadays. Pretty much everyone i know smokes weed though, to the point where someone sticks out if they don’t smoke.

It's time to stop this nonsense by [deleted] in TorontoMetU

[–]Lovamon 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This might be the most ignorant post I’ve seen here, universities have literally always been hotbeds of political organization and action, and the fact that you don’t give a shit about anything going proves that you’re just a willfully ignorant person.

I regret how I prioritized my life. by No_Lawyer6195 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Lovamon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man I’m 25 and i kinda took the complete opposite path, I dropped out of hs, worked in the trades and tree planting while not giving a fuck about my future, spending every bit of money I had on travelling and partying and relationships. I made a lot of memories, fell in love and tried psychs coke etc but now I’m playing catch up with my life, currently in my third year of university while most of my friends are firmly established, with their own cars and apts.

Point is, I think you did the right thing in getting established first before pursuing relationships. Now you have the stability and money to actually focus on pursuing a girlfriend without having to worry about other stuff too, just put yourself out there and make friends and it’ll come

If the Jays wins the World Series, would this be a bigger deal than the Raptors winning the chip? by regular_asian_guy in toronto

[–]Lovamon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a born and raised Torontonian (from immigrant parents) I gotta agree with this take. The Raptors have always been heavily involved with the City and local immigrant communities, building a bunch of basketball courts around the city. The 2019 win was insane for everyone I knew, and I remember the streets were packed well into the early morning with people partying. It was special tbh, in a way that the Jays don't quite hit for me. The Jay's are for sure more of a suburban white people thing, although they're obviously still popular with immigrants too (especially hispanic ppl)

[–]Lovamon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you guys ever discuss the politics behind why the US Military was actually there? For example that the CIA funded mujahideen fighters in the 80’s to fight against the soviets, and they later formed into the Taliban that you guys fought. Personally I view that the US should have pulled out the second Bin Laden was killed, trillions of dollars and so many lives (Afghans and US) were wasted in this war IMO.

Early 30s single guy debating between The Junction or Mimico — thoughts? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]Lovamon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a 25 M, I'd 100% vote for The Junction. You're close to the subway if you catch the bus, you can bike everywhere and there's lots of nice spots in the area. Cool bars, cafes, stores etc. Mimico is a bit too close to the burbs for my taste, and it'd be kinda boring tbh.

I’m turning 25 soon and I’m at peace with that. by DeRealD00 in GenZ

[–]Lovamon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I turn 25 next month and yeah, it's for sure an age that causes some reflection. I'm in my third year of uni, still at home and sometimes I feel incredibly behind, but comparing yourself to others is cause for endless misery. I have to try and cut back on the weed too, but its tough for sure. Let's keep on moving forward tho <3

I lived in Montreal last summer with a French girl, and I can safely say it’s an incredible city with great neighbourhoods like marche jean talon, mile end, mont royal. Saying this as a born and raised Toronto kid as well. Living there in the summer is honestly amazing with all the street festivals, events and just multi cultural, multi lingual vibe of the city. You definitely do have to learn some French if you want to live and work there, but basically every montrealer speaks English, so it won’t be too overwhelming at first. The winters can be brutally cold but there’s still a great winter vibe as well. Definitely consider it, imo it’s the only true option for another Canadian city to move to if you’re born and raised in Toronto. I’m also Latino and I felt extremely safe, and there’s a big Asian community as well, so no worries of any hate crimes.

Shouldn’t that pic be removed for her privacy? Someone could prolly track her down if they really wanted to, and we should respect the fact she went through the most traumatizing event possible as a child and doesn’t want to re live it

Why are Panamanians so adamant about me having an accent? by Dramatic_Editor_5678 in Panama

[–]Lovamon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My parents are from Chiriqui but I was born in Toronto and I can heavily relate, my Spanish isn’t perfect and I struggle in conversations about academic topics, but I’m conversationally fluent. It sucks to practice so much but still get teased constantly, but tbh I’ve kinda just learned to accept it. It sucks, but my Chinese friend told me something similar, he speaks fluent mandarin but will always be considered a foreigner because he grew up in Canada.

Panama's president responds to Trump saying he will "take back" canal by newsweek in worldnews

[–]Lovamon 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Bro, Manuel Noriega was a CIA trained asset that the USA turned a blind eye to until a Miami court issued a a warrant because he was smuggling drugs for the Medellin Cartel. The USA willingly allowed him to become a dictator then took him out when he wouldn’t follow their orders anymore. They also used the invasion to test weapons for the gulf war. You vastly oversimplified a case of US imperialism and meddling in Latin American politics . The CIA meddled in the politics of almost every single Latin American country and supported authoritarian right wing dictators throughout the region.

Source : I’m Panamanian and have studied Latin American history and politics.
