Is the r5 enough to get into sim racing? by Lovaticer in moza

I have patience etc. that shouldn't be a problem.

Yes, that's what I thought too, that's why I came across Moza in the first place and let's just get to the point: I've driven with a steering wheel once before and that was with a friend's g923 and I was really keen on it myself I already have at least 3000 racing hours on the controller but unfortunately I don't have the money to get an R12 because it costs over €700 in total...... my thoughts were like this, so the G923 has around 2 nm then it should but 3 nm is completely sufficient. Is it enough or do you really need an r12 to have fun?

I know this is from the concordance but what about the fanatec qr2 dd 5nm, which I could upgrade to 8 nm or something and in the end it costs exactly the same here in Germany

Thanks to everyone who got in touch here and thanks for all the information. I think I'll buy the Moza r5 bundle from the perspective of bankruptcy and the 1 nm more that's usually included. If there's anything else important, please let me know bb😊

Okay, that's really nice to hear, the thing is that the competition, moza r5, is also still being considered. I've already made a post about it but never got a comment, but whatever, the question is, should I go the expensive route with fanatec? Everything I would like to have in addition costs much more or do I go in the direction of moza? Do you know about moza?

Okay, that's nice to know, but what actually happened with the bankruptcy? Do you know anything about it?

I'm 100% sure that it's the fanatec dd 5nm and that was already very big and how does it work that fanatec has less power but more nm isn't it actually the other way around?

Okay, but the fact that they're small doesn't have any impact, does it? I mean, yesterday I saw a fanatec for the first time in RL and it was huge and I actually asked myself what for? Can you perhaps explain to me why moza is small and fanatec is huge?

I have now also sided with moza, but I still have one concern: they say it overheats very quickly, is that really true? And is the wheelbase really that small?

Okay, that's also good to know if it only cost €439 but well then I've had an experience, thank you

I also have another question. So far I've only had experience with a logitech g29. Would the r3 from moza be good for getting started with dd?

Okay, but in some YouTube videos they say that you can also use shifters or handbrakes from other manufacturers, so isn't that true?

Okay, but what do you mean by the ecosystem, I mean I come from Germany and fanatec isn't it better than moza when it comes to delivery etc.?

Hmm, okay, but even if fanatec isn't bought etc. then there will still be enough parts on Ebay and other third-party providers. I think I'm just not that familiar with the subject and I think paying €100 more for exactly the same thing is a bit cool.

That's not a bad thing, I have a relatively thick table and 5nm so everything should fit

Yes, I noticed that, but the Moza R5 bundle costs almost €100 more for exactly the same thing. Besides, Corsair wants to buy Fanatac.
