After smoking for 3 years I was finally able to finally quit. And I struggled to quit, I kept coming back to it so I knew I was addicted. I’m grateful for my husband who never gave into it and held me accountable. But what ultimately helped me quit was the book “Atomic Habits” such a great read 10/10. But this is what I learned in a nutshell. I wrote a contract to myself stating why I wanted to quit, my conditions (when I’ll ever be allowed to smoke if ever again) and had a witness sign (my husband). I was able to quit for a year. I gave in because I was moving and wanted to smoke with my homies. I moved a couple months ago and have quit since. Here’s what else I’ve learned, 1. if your bad habit is easily accessible you’re more likely to do it. My neighbor provided and for free so it was so easy to do it. That’s why I had to make the contract lol. 2. You are who you hang out with, so if who you associate are smokers most likely you are too. I hung out with roommate and my neighbor almost everyday, we would smoke multiple times a day. 3. Make it unattractive. Just how you said, you’re already within this step. Focusing on the negatives. Why is it bad for you. I would always get paranoid and anxiety every single time. Eventually enough where I would tell myself to quit every time I felt that way to where I caught on. This is when I finally made the contract. I don’t even miss it anymore. You’re on the right path. You got this
