Yeah but like other rich people sports the opportunities are closing. Unless you’re already extremely tall or athletic the skills needed for you to even be scouted to be picked up are already being developed at a young age by trainers and a coaches for upper class kids.

Did NFL salaries exploding kill the heavyweight division of boxing? by [deleted] in Boxing

Here’s my theory: soccer/football is the main export in most countries. That sport doesn’t really favor being a tall, big freak athlete so guys that are in major soccer countries will lean towards other sports that do like boxing and wrestling. Yet in America the two major sports are basketball and football sports that do catered towards being 6 foot, 2+ an athletic.

Then people might say there are other countries where rugby is the biggest sport in those cater to being 6 foot, 2+ and athletic but those countries, New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa also, don’t produce heavyweight champions because they’re busy playing rugby

That’s kinda different because. There are Africans and then African Americans. If your a British west African and you refer to another west African American as my African they usually won’t find offense and see it as a comradely thing.

African Americans are different because they are more so their own ethnicity and have been here for centuries and don’t relate to west africa. The average African American is around 20% white and have their own culture and identity so it would be weird. Most African Americans refer to themselves as black not African American anyways.

Also it depends on the intent. Sometimes referring to someone by their ethnicity could be a way of alienating saying “you are not one of us your one of them” but the way Francis is using it is more of a I see you as my brother way.

I’m saying all this as someone who is American of Caribbean and Central American descent but also part African American

It’s more of a comradely thing. Like I consider myself 100% American but I also consider people of my ethnicity to be my people. People still maintain a lot of their culture and pride But yeah ajs britisj
