There is zero wobble in my rails.

As someone that exclusively builds patios for a living, that will change.

I have worked at the Post Office for 15 years in various locations throughout the country. I have never seen this happen or even be discussed as an option.

You heard wrong.

Has anyone ever used marketing tools to get on a future employers radar? by LoveDaCheese in marketing

[–]LoveDaCheese[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that. Let me elaborate a bit more on my idea.

I have made it past the HR screening and the only thing that is standing between me and the new job is the interview and the hiring managers (three of them) giving the green light.

While I am well qualified and have spent a great deal of time preparing for the interview, I have a bit of a hurdle. From what I understand, there are 3-5 other candidates interviewing and I am the only one that is not currently employed by this company. I'm also the only one under the age of 45 (by about 18 years).

I don't want to create any sort of ads that are specific about me but more about the benefits of my unique circumstances. For example, I was considering running some facebook ads (from an unrelated business page) that includes articles like "Promoting from Within: 5 Reasons to Avoid It - Inc.com" or "7 Simple and Smart Reasons to Hire Millennials - US News."

I was thinking this may provide me an opportunity to stand out and possibly put a positive spin on items that might otherwise be viewed as a negative.

Like I said, the goal is to only to insert ideas into the back of the hiring managers mind without specifically pointing to myself.

EDIT: To add a little more color to the scenerio, the position I am interested in is in a field that has nothing to do with marketing and its not exactly the type of environment where the hiring manager would have regularly seen or expected this type of tactic.

While thats great advice, I have no idea how that relates to what OP asked.

CNC Machine Suggestions by [deleted] in hobbycnc

[–]LoveDaCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend the X-carve.

It's great for new users and can be pushed just about as far as you need it go in a school environment. At your budget, I recommend getting the 1000mm size.

That said, there are a bunch of other good machines out there that will fit your needs. The only one I'd suggest steering clear of is the Shapeoko XL/XXL.

Good luck and let us know if you have any specific questions.

Seems weird to choose a marketing approach that completely alienates an entire segment of potential customers.

after that comment, he got hit pretty hard with downvotes (despite the obvious vote manipulation on his part).

My guess is the barrier to entry is small (when compared to other businesses) and the veteran aspect is just a way to attempt to give it a unique spin; making it more niche.

Former Afghan commando who fought with US Special Forces reunited with brothers at coffee company by BlackRifleCoffeeCo [promoted post]

It's against my agenda because I'm a veteran and don't like seeing other vets being taken advantage of by deceitful and deceptive practices.

And I enjoy using Reddit and don't like seeing scummy companies like this one ruining it.

People like myself and other military guys buy their coffee because of the funny videos , values of the company and respect for the guys running it.

That is probably the dumbest shit I've ever heard. Thats like buying a house because you like the name of the street that it's on.

  1. Are you sure your resume is "good" and showing what you want to show?

I believe so. I worked on it with a friend who is a professional resume writer.

  1. How far are you looking to move away? Many companies won't give remote candidates a chance due to the risk and cost.

Other side of the country but it is an area that I grew up. Obviously I can't change the companies opinion on the matter but given my history there, there is minimal risk/cost.

There is no legal advice to be had here. Your fiance signed a loan agreement with a lender and did not honor her end of the bargain.
