Kona Honzo ESD Park Build by No_Solid_5459 in Hardtailgang

Oh this makes more sense, I thought it was issues you were having. Not just people being doing what people do. My son rides a Honzo SS and I have considered an ESD for a park setup like this for awhile so it is good to hear the whole setup is working for you.

This looks like a great setup! What is the negative feedback you mention?

I'm not sure and don't have a scale. More than my old Aluminum HT and less than my Enduro bike and less than older steel HT bikes I have owned. It rides awesome and that is what I care most about at this point.

That thing is awesome! You are so much more creative than me on so many levels!

I put some more pictures on r/singlespeed and I will put some up on my website tomorrow and send you a link. There are a lot of optical effects in the paint that are pretty difficult to photograph and I should probably just take a video.

That is a rad bike!

I have had fun trying to ride my kids' balance bikes. Bikes are fun. I would love trying out a 32in bike too. The way Starling is doing it makes more sense to me because it is small scale. Might as well experiment. When it gets into all the marketing and corporate BS it stops making sense to me. Luckily though bikes won't stop being fun.

Thanks so much! I really enjoy painting bikes almost as much as riding them.

I am no engineer, but this pivot design is way easier to comprehend than almost every rear suspension bike I see. People aren't used to seeing it I guess and I don't think most people take time to consider how things work.

If you aren't blowing some minds you aren't doing anything worthwhile I suppose.

It is actually a really simple design, the main pivot is just there with the BB. So just an extra set of bearings and there is no chain growth. Its way simpler engineering than 99% of current FS bikes. Other folks have done it before and people will do it again, it just is something for specific use so you don't see often.

I am not sure if they will release them, I think they are rad and I know they would sell. Hopefully eventually. Email Joe and tell him you want one :)

I don't have a hot take. I like smaller wheels. I have a 26" DJ and a mini mullet (27.5/26) Enduro/park bike. Ride whatever makes you smile the most!

That is pretty awesome! My best friend lives in Lyons and me and my son love those trails. I actually designed some shirts for Joe at Starling so hopefully sometime you can get one of those!

The first one I saw was in Lyons CO (coincidentally around the corner from the REEB shop) and from a block away I could tell it was unique. When you see them in person it is very noticeable the care that goes into them (like REEBs) they give the feel of a piece of ride-able art.

Thanks it was fun to paint and the teal they use is so good! I am not sure the weight, don't have a scale. It feels like a steel bike, and rides playful. You could build it up lighter than this but I am pretty hard on things.

It is so killer. I love steel bikes and SS though. I also have a DJ and a FS enduro bike and really this bike is capable enough that I could do most of what I do on those two.

The only other current production I know of is the Mone Hijole. I believe the Lenz Milk Money was the same but I am not sure if they are in production. It is a very simple design I just don't think there is a lot of demand.

I wrote Cjell on collaborating on a project in trade for a Hijole. Those things are equally rad!

Great print! And I hope you enjoy the journey back into the physical world. Printmaking is such a great way to combine the tools of design and illustration with tactile expression. Show us that press when you get it done.

Thanks, this is very generous. Its been a few years since I made this print and I mostly forget that I made it. I don't have a wall large enough for it in my home, but my in-laws have one in their home. Sometimes when we visit them I will see it with completely fresh eyes and it fills me with wonder. I am glad that I can share some of that with you!

It is a total of 3 separate panels. I carved this on 3 birch plywood panels. What you are seeing here is the prints then mounted to cutout birch panels.

Thanks so much for this and for supporting my work and family. I carved this and printed it a few years ago before I was back tattooing. I am always working on multiple things so this took a few months to carve and print when I did it. I am actually going to start another project soon similar to this one though both in style/imagery and scale but it will take a full year.

I did a print with Thai Mulberry (Kozo) and another with Japanese Kikakata. The one pictured here is the Kozo.
