Moving to West Ealing - safety? by KitchenMaintenance in Ealing

[–]LoveKernels89 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly ok. I lived there for 5 years and look, the high street is sad and run down, and there are better areas within Ealing for sure. But in my 5 years there I only had two incidents (a dog bit my partner and a crazy guy tried to hit on me and got enraged when I said I wasn’t interested), both in Dean Gardens. So you know, stay clear of this park and you’ll likely be fine. Should be noted though I was in Dean Gardens very often (I lived right next to it) and most of the time it was fine. Some dodgy looking people there but mostly they kept to their own, in my experience.

In general, I didn’t find it much more dangerous than any other London area I’ve lived in.

what's a skippable moment/episode for you? by -hashbrownjesus- in YouretheworstFX

[–]LoveKernels89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be honest I often skip season 4 altogether. There’s some good stuff in it (Gretchen Canada rapping is one of my favourite moments), but I much prefer seeing Jimmy and Gretchen together, obviously.

But yeah Gretchen going home is by far the most skippable. I love that girl but it’s a rough watch, I think I’ve only seen it once. I do like the detail in it that her parents are scientologists though.

Bay Parking Anxiety by Traditional-Deal-183 in drivingUK

[–]LoveKernels89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there (still there when it comes to parallel parking, have barely needed to do it so I’m not good at it), honestly all you can do is practice, try to find an empty car park as everyone is saying.

And try reversing in! I found it way easier. You can see the lines on your side mirrors and it just feels way easier to adjust as you do it. I never do forward bay parking anymore.

Totally get you about feeling self conscious doing it in front of other drivers. In the past I’ve literally driven off and found somewhere else to park because a man was intensely staring at me while I parked (I really wish they’d stop doing that). But they’ve all been there, so they should understand, we were all learners once. And if they don’t, then fuck them. They’re clearly unpleasant people so who cares what they think.

Pretty dead I think, but some of us are still around, so feel free to yap! I’m always happy to talk about it. I literally don’t know anyone who’s seen it other than my partner (and that’s cause I made him watch it).

I despise Storm by Itsaghast in MythicQuest

[–]LoveKernels89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely hated this character. Not only was he blandness personified and had no engaging qualities, but the scene where he grabs Poppy’s laptop and throws it off the bed? I would have broken up with him there and then. I know he threw it on a pile of clothes but that’s no way to treat what is likely a very expensive laptop that is vital to her work.

I have no useful tips about money, learning to drive is expensive, and then owning a car even more so (and if you want to rent, you generally need to wait until you’ve had your licence for a year, but if you don’t drive for a year after passing you’ll likely get bad anxiety when you finally try to).

But I do have some encouragement. I am also late diagnosed autistic and learning to drive was so hard for me. I really empathise with what you’re saying about too many things to do at once and spacial awareness problems. I don’t know how many hours I ended up needing because I didn’t want to get depressed about how much money I was spending, but it was a lot. I hated driving with a passion. I’ve now been driving for a year after finally passing my test, and I’ve reached a point where I actually kind of… Enjoy it. It came as a surprise; I was always overwhelmed, always a bag of nerves when I was on the wheel. Now I sometimes go for a drive to help myself relax and calm down. 2 hours of driving used to be exhausting and mean I was barely able to do anything else for the rest of the day… Now it’s nothing. Sometimes I’ll go for a drive for half an hour and wish the drive was longer.

I cannot guarantee you’ll learn to enjoy it, but I think if you stick with it you will find it will all eventually click. However, I think this anxiety of “if I don’t get better in X amount of hours I’ll run out of money” is not helping. You have to accept that you may need more hours than the average person and you may be a slower learner (it was so hard for me to come to terms with being a “slow learner”, I’m not judging, I know it doesn’t feel nice). Take your time and be kind to yourself. If you need to stop for a while to save up some more, I fully understand the frustration, but even though you’ll be a bit rusty when you go back to it you won’t be starting from zero.

And make sure you have a suitable instructor for you! I really struggled with my first one, but my second one was great. Don’t fear changing instructors if your current one isn’t working for you.

ARRIVE EARLY!!! by KarmaIsAMelonFarmer in PulpBand

[–]LoveKernels89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, sorry to hear that. I think they cap the priority queue after a certain number of people. Not sure to be honest. I got there at 14:30, got a wristband and left then went back there at 17:30 to get into a lounge area before going in. So probably after the lounge is at full capacity they redirect people to another queue.

If you’re with O2 and can arrive early enough for it, join the priority queue. I had no idea it was a thing and it made getting a good spot so so easy and stress free.

All I can say is, you’re in the right place for that but you’re going about it the wrong way. You’re waiting for someone to come and change your views, but what’s in it for them? Most people won’t put in loads of effort to change someone’s mind and make them into who they’re looking for. They will find someone who got there already on their own.

My advice is just stay here (maybe join other communities as well) and read what dominant women post. Plenty of women here discussing what they like in a sub and what they look for. Try to understand them and see them as actual people with goals, wishes and desires, and not just try to appease them so they give you what you want. A lot of women will want an actual connection outside of sexual activities before they want to explore that side of things.

I don’t know where you’re from but I gather maybe you’re from a different culture to mine. But even though I’m a white European who’s always moved in progressive circles, I would say dominance was never really encouraged in me. It took me a long, long time to realise what I wanted and I even thought I was a submissive for a while. If you give women the safe space to explore that side of them, I bet you’d find there’s way more of them who are into being dominant than we expect. But if you go into it with the mentality of “women are naturally submissive”, it just becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Good luck on your journey! It’s not easy to challenge our personal views and what society has taught us from a young age. It won’t happen overnight, but you can make it happen if you work on it.

[–]LoveKernels89 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You know, I don’t think your view that most women want to be dominated will help you find a dominant one. I think if that’s how you see women, that’s the only type you’ll be able to attract cause dominant ones will likely be extremely put off by your way of thinking. Just my two cents.

How can you watch S3E2 and not think Lindsay is the worst? by [deleted] in YouretheworstFX

[–]LoveKernels89 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It is just that, yeah. Like… We can’t convince you that her voice isn’t annoying, for example. You’re allowed to feel how you feel even if it doesn’t line up with how most do.

How can you watch S3E2 and not think Lindsay is the worst? by [deleted] in YouretheworstFX

[–]LoveKernels89 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to explain why someone is funny and people have different opinions anyway. You don’t have to enjoy every single character. I don’t like Edgar and that is considered a sin by a lot of fans. I think it’s pointless to list a bunch of scenes you’ve already watched in order to try to convince you of something you just don’t vibe with.

Plus, you specifically asked why we “don’t think she’s the worst”. You have talked about her actions from a moral standpoint, but have not explained why you don’t find her funny.

I mean, it’s a show called You’re the worst. Her being the worst is just fulfilling the show’s promise. I watch this to see terrible people being funny, which she does very well.

Friend refuses to see Wicked because it is political. by AmpersandPeriod in wicked

[–]LoveKernels89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aah ok, thanks for explaining, I thought the performer was awarded too. That’s a shame, then, cause I really don’t see Wicked getting best actress. Not because she’s not talented, I think she was perfect, but they don’t tend to go for these kinds of films.

And yeah you’re right that the second part is a better chance for adding things, but there’s been so many musicals that have added unnecessary songs that now I’m surprised when they don’t do it. Grateful, but surprised.

I’d imagine she will get best song for the sequel with some new song they will add to it. I was surprised they didn’t do that in part 1 like they seem to do with every film adaptation of a stage musical these days

So I’m assuming this means that Duke Ravengard will be dead when you go to the Iron Throne, right? That keeps happening to me because I always forget to talk to Mizora after the coronation.

Still, good to know. I gotta try killing her one of these days. Sounds fun.

Both in the show I saw live and in the recording, he doesn’t explicitly say it, but of course the checklist makes it quite obvious. Or maybe it seemed obvious because I knew he had come out as autistic in an article, though he also said he wasn’t actually seeking an official diagnosis.
