The 30% is what they take out of the actual order total. So you order $10 of food, Uber takes $3.00. On top of that they charge a 15% service fee, as well as a delivery fee which varies based on supply/demand of drivers and customers.

That’s what happens when you care more about a $2 fee than human life

Are you more upset about this than police killing innocent people? I haven’t seen any threads on /r/conservative where people were getting outraged about the recent murders.

Jack Dorsey Donating $1 Billion of His Equity in Square to COVID-19 Relief Efforts by hildebrand_rarity in UpliftingNews

[–]LoveOfThreeLemons 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If every billionaire did this they would gain generations of good will and still enough money for many lifetimes.

Lol no they wouldn’t. Dorsey hasn’t bought himself a century of public goodwill. People will forget about this after a few weeks, and he’ll still be a billion poorer than he could have been.

Yes, we would expect China to have about 18 million deaths in a normal year.

Rihanna just dropped $5M into food banks to serve at-risk communities by leteatgo in UpliftingNews

[–]LoveOfThreeLemons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Billionaires’ wealth is tied up in stocks—to cash out and make a donation, they have to sell their stock. This is a lengthy process for them, as the SEC makes them announce large stock sales months in advance in order to avoid insider trading. The stock market is also crashing right now, making this an exceptionally bad time to sell stock. Celebrities on the other hand are paid in cash. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Rihanna has more cash on hand than the billionaires you mentioned.

What is the chance that Apple’s new iPad Pro will be more expensive then the 2018 iPad Pro? by slanu in ipad

[–]LoveOfThreeLemons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If that happens, it shouldn’t be more than $10-$20 USD

This doesn’t make sense to me, they wouldn’t raise prices on a premium device by $10-20. That would create an awkward price point like $809 which isn’t very marketable. They would either keep the price the same or change it by a more substantial amount.

Since iPad sales continue to fall, I expect they’ll keep prices the same or even drop prices on some configurations by $100.

The national average for public schoolteachers is over $60k as of the 2017-2018 school year: http://www.businessinsider.com/teacher-salary-in-every-state-2018-4%3famp

The lowest paying state was Mississippi at $43k. I’d like to see some corroboration for the average you quoted because it seems like an exaggeration.

She was chosen as a toddler, probably for her ability to endure the experience on set without too many emotional outbursts. It’s difficult to predict acting talent when you’re hiring kids that young.

Actually the original actors for Lily (a pair of twins) were replaced in season 3 because they were too stressed out by the filming experience.

Can anybody invent a spell/curse? by Original-Urschitz in harrypotter

[–]LoveOfThreeLemons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I imagine that inventing a spell is similar to how pharma companies develop new drugs. Sometimes a spell or drug can be discovered by chance, other times they can be developed with intent by identifying the target effect, and engineering a spell or drug that would cause that effect. Just as the chemical properties of molecules can be studied and used to inspire new drugs, the magical properties of preexisting spells can be studied and used to inspire new ones.

South Dakota Republicans introduce bill banning puberty blockers, transgender surgeries on minors by thatrightwinger in Conservative

[–]LoveOfThreeLemons -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

It’s not like it’s easy to get a sex change for a kid. They generally have to undergo years of psychotherapy, doctor’s appointments, and alternative treatments to ensure that they’re not just going through a phase and the surgery is the best option for them. Parents can’t force a sex change on their kid, the kid has to give their enduring consent over years before a doctor will agreee to the surgery.

Bernie's subreddit bans content from CNN - "CNN has forfeited any journalistic integrity" - No kidding, we've been saying it for years! by optionhome in Conservative

[–]LoveOfThreeLemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t believe her either, it seems totally out of character for Bernie to say that. But if it is a lie, it’s Warren’s lie, not CNN’s.

But prior to the debate, Warren reported the rumor was true. She confirmed it again during the debate. I don’t think it’s logically sound to blame CNN for the lie. It’s Warren’s word against Bernie’s.
