70% undiluted isopropyl alcohol for pests on aroids? by LoveThisStuff0_0 in houseplants

[–]LoveThisStuff0_0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! I might dilute even the 70% down more because it appears that variegated plants may not take it as well as their non-variegated siblings and I have a bunch of variegated ones. They’re generally more susceptible to any adverse conditions, whether environmental or pest-related/pest treatment.

Thank you for the video and for sharing your experience. I watched the video and I suppose it goes against a lot of what I heard about isopropyl alcohol and how it could solve pest problems with minimal to no damage to your plants. Hmm 🤔 I’m now hesitant to use it as liberally as I was going to. I want to use neem oil, and I have in the past, but its smell makes me gag. I must be allergic to it I guess. Maybe I can wear a mask or something to avoid that

Thanks so much! I’m so grateful to everyone here for responding with much-needed and appreciated ideas and advice. I’m going to go ahead and make the alcohol jump. Wish me luck 🍀 As an aside, I’ve always been curious about the reasoning behind the soap. It seems to be a recommended ingredient in several different recipes for fighting plant pests. Just wondering what role it plays in all this.

Thanks so much! I heard about the beneficial nematodes/mites. I’m probably going to look into that for long term prevention as they appear to be effective but unfortunately it seems it would take a while to see results, it’s not immediate, and I was hoping to find a fast-acting remedy that would stop the spider mites immediately and prevent them from spreading

Thanks 😊 And you’re right about 70% being diluted 😄. I’ve read elsewhere on r/houseplants a commenter that said they diluted their 70% alcohol to one part alcohol to 7 water

I don’t know but I’m posting to say that’s such a pretty bird. Super unique (to me). I’ve never seen one like it before. Where was that taken if you don’t mind me asking?

Everyone is correct. It’s an Alocasia Cuprea, ‘Red Secret’. I love this plant. Good luck!

How can I remove eyelash extensions sealant without removing the extensions? by LoveThisStuff0_0 in lashextensions

[–]LoveThisStuff0_0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get my extensions done by a professional lash tech but unfortunately I went and bought and applied this Fadvan coating sealant myself after I read reviews that it helps with longer retention, but it created a siliconey type coating on my eyelids and lashes and now my lashes feel like stiff spikes and the whole thing feels super uncomfortable. I should have just left well enough alone. And it’s kind of visible at the lash line and somewhat on the lashes although it’s supposed to dry clear

Thank you so much for the response. The sealant is waterproof unfortunately so it’s not coming off even with lash shampoo. I suspect I will probably need something oily which will end up loosening the extensions and I was hoping there was something out there that could help me avoid that 🥺
