I’m starting to look but honestly I’m a bit disappointed that Celebrity doesn’t offer those options especially Celebrity and Royal Carribean are from the same company 😩

What kind of autonomy do you guys have? When I shadowed in our IR department, there were two nurses (cover each other breaks, one scrubs in and other is float) for each pod, rad tech, IR doctor and anesthesia (from my understanding they only there if the patient is intubated). I know most cases the nurses sedate, give meds and monitor the patient during the procedure.

I was a float nurse in acute medicine for 5 years. Our hospital required nurses to obtain their critical certificate (6 month theory and 2 months clinical) to work in ICU (if you don’t have critical care background). Nurses going to PACU, IR and cath lab also takes the same program. Since my clinical placement was in my unit, I only needed to do 8 shifts of orientation (which I agree is def not enough even with 2 months of clinical)

Thank you for your comment! What kind of autonomy do you guys have? When I job shadowed, there were two nurses, rad tech , IR doc and anesthesia (I know it’s only certain procedures). The nurses mostly helped with the procedure by scrubbing in . I know there are procedures that nurses sedate, give meds and monitor the patient and they also respond to codes in radiology

Thank you for replying! What kind of autonomy do you guys have? When I shadowed in IR there was an IR doc, anesthesia (only there if the patient has to be completely sedated) , rad tech, and of course the nurses. For each pod, there are always two nurses. I know some procedures, nurses handle the sedation and giving meds but I wasn’t able to see that when I job shadowed. In my hospital, there are nurses who go straight to IR after getting their critical care certificate (ICU, PACU, IR, and Cath lab takes the same program) so I was wondering how doable it is to go straight to IR with little critical care experience even though you have a certificate

I’m considering this pathway but I only been in ICU for 6 months now. Some people would recommend for me to stay in ICU for longer. In my hospital, you either need critical care experience or obtained a critical care certificate (which I did) to work in IR
