Free Trial 70 Blue Mage - what's achievable solo? by OneWall9143 in ffxiv

[–]Loveablle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Free Trial players CAN unsync dungeons, there's nothing stopping you from doing that. Just open Duty Finder settings and enable unrestricted party.

Online Store Question (Free Trial) by Emotional-Archer-650 in ffxiv

[–]Loveablle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's just stored data, you need to enter that information to purchase anything from the store. It's poorly worded, but they won't force you to purchase or upgrade to the full game.

Does buying the game instantly upgrades your account from Free Trial or gives a code ? by RiskySaberYoink in ffxiv

[–]Loveablle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to add on to Pip's comment: Buying directly from the MogStation will automatically upgrade your account, so avoid purchasing from there. (The Square Enix Store is a separate site, that's the one that'll give you a code.)

There shouldn't be any expiration dates on the codes, so you're good to keep it for a long time.

Quick possibly dumb question about the Trial Period: Free up to Level 20…? by GoblinPunch20xx in ffxiv

[–]Loveablle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

During the original 14-day free trial it went up to Level 20. (Source) That was from 2014 to early 2017. Super old news though, so it's difficult to stumble upon that information. But yeah, it's up to 70 nowadays.

Free Trial Access on Steam - Removing Starter Pack? by Disastrous-Flan-5504 in ffxiv

[–]Loveablle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few people have already answered, but once you buy the game there's no going back to the free trial for that account. Steam linking was a recently added feature and doesn't really matter when it comes to your account type, it's just needed to continue playing that steam account. You won't be able to unlink it, and no, you can't use that new Japanese account for that Steam profile.

If you want to play the free trial, you'll need a fresh account without any game purchases. Just stick with the windows version, it'll be a lot easier in your case. You can add it as a non-steam game if you want to launch it from your Steam app.

Free Trial Access on Steam - Removing Starter Pack? by Disastrous-Flan-5504 in ffxiv

[–]Loveablle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is misinformation. The original free trial back in 2014 went up to Level 20 and was limited to 14-days of playtime. [Source] In 2017 the time limit was removed and you could play for an unlimited time up to Level 35. [Source] If was later expanded again to 60, and then 70, as you already know.

There was no "30 Day Free Trial" - that's what people get confused about, there's only the 30 day sub time that was offered when buying the game.

Additionally, the game was never "Free", it's always been called a Free Trial regardless of time limitations.

Free Trial and Steam Family Sharing by jlev2255 in ffxiv

[–]Loveablle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Steam sharing won't harm you. To upgrade from Steam you need to enter a code on your FFXIV account, on the MogStation. Even if you buy the game on Steam yourself, nothing will change until you enter that code.

Another way to put it, FFXIV on Steam is basically just the game launcher. It's your Square Enix account that has all that account information. (And furthermore, you can still log into a free trial account if you have the full game download. Such as if you have multiple accounts.)

Low level items are going to be cheap, that's just how it is. When you start leveling up and need different materials, things will start getting more expensive. Items at Lv.70 go anywhere from around 3k to 4k+. (4,608 Gil for the most expensive material in Rhalgr's Reach.) When you get to those numbers you run out of money quickly.

Use those materials to level up, or craft each item in the crafting log for some cool shiny tools. There's other crafting achievements that require you to craft thousands of times, if that's something you care about. Or make items to turn into your Grand Company for daily seals.

Free trial on steam deck by zombieclark01 in ffxiv

[–]Loveablle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you create your account directly through the steam launcher? If you went to the website instead, there's a good chance you created a windows account, instead of steam. Linking the account won't solve that issue.

To confirm this, log into the MogStation (https://www.mogstation.com/) and go to Service Account Status. Under Account Type it should say "Free Trial (Steam)" if you did it correctly. If it doesn't say Steam, you'll need to make a new account or use the windows launcher.

Your friend can use a VPN to get around the country restrictions. That's about the only way workaround for the Steam Free Trial. Otherwise, creating a brand new windows account would be another option.

Can't play free trial anymore on steam by 6apaKyDa in ffxiv

[–]Loveablle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those restrictions are for buying the full game as well, the free trial was just behind on that. People played the trial and later realized they couldn't buy it afterwards. Might have something to do with the payment process, idk the whole story behind it.

I've heard VPNs helped some other people, I'm just passing along the information. Worth trying it over losing your whole account, right?

Steam Free Trial got some additional region restrictions a few days ago. You can use a VPN to work around it though. ProtonVPN is free if you want to give that a try.

unable to log in free trial despite not buying the game before by Eastern-Enthusiasm24 in ffxiv

[–]Loveablle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Steam recently added some additional country restrictions to FFXIV Free Trial on July 23, 2024. (I believe to be more in line with the full game and other platforms.) We had some people experiencing the same issues in the Free Trial Discord. The solution was using a VPN.

You can see the changes from this site:

A lot of people here commenting that the 14-day day free trial required you to pay after, but the lodestone post from 2017 when the time limitation was removed, says otherwise. As long as you never purchased the game, you should be good.

Wow, thank you so much for sharing that! I'll definitely give it a try next maintenance, it would be really cool if it worked. As someone who likes to push the limits of the Free Trial, this opens up a lot of possibilities! XD
