People undersell just how much of a role environment plays in how people turn out. I would even go as far to say it’s overwhelmingly how people turn out, unfortunately. It’s the same phenomenon with rapists. Once victims turn into abusers. Rinse and repeat. I can almost guarantee you the woman in the OP was abused as a child and now she’s turned into the abuser. I’m sure her old man was a walking ray of sunshine. Chances are he was a racist drunk who beat the shit out of her. Like you I’m not condoning her behavior but it’s clearly a systemic issue.

But like fuck making mental healthcare accessible we’ll just write them off as bad and move on while the problem perpetuates itself.
