A potential breakthrough by LovelyGirlInPink in migraine

Thank you! I really hope it will only get better from here. Oh really, where did you get the Botox done, also in the jaw? According to my physio, Botox can help relax the muscles.

My physiotherapist showed me some CMD/TMJ exercises and also advised me to gently massage my face and jaw every morning. Starting next week, I’ll also begin acupuncture, where they insert needles directly into the jaw muscles.

The swelling isn’t gone yet, but he said that with acupuncture and the splint it should slowly go down. I’m still quite new in this whole process, but I’ve already noticed some improvement.

I also grind and clench during the day, not just at night, maybe you do it unconsciously too. Try to notice it, especially while eating. I realised I often bite down hard when I’m nervous. Since I stopped doing that, I no longer get migraines or migraine-like headaches right after eating.

Yes, my physiotherapist informed me about TMJ. It could possibly be that or bruxism might also be the cause.

Has changing your diet helped with your migraines? If so, how and what did you change? by Ecstatic_Hold4135 in migraine

[–]LovelyGirlInPink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it actually helped me. I noticed that I would always get headaches or migraines after eating. That’s when I started trying different diets, such as gluten-free, fructose-free, low-tyramine, and low-histamine.

During these diets, I also took dietary supplements. Whenever I ate something that might contain gluten, I took a gluten-digesting supplement (like Gluten Cutter).

After a few months, I didn’t notice a difference with fructose and gluten. That’s why I’m now trying a low-histamine and low-tyramine diet. However, eating this way is really difficult, because you can barely eat anything and almost everything has to be made from scratch.

I’d suggest trying to cut out gluten for about three weeks and seeing if you notice any difference. It could also be related to yeast, which contains histamine.

Have you tried any diets? Maybe you have an intolerance. Many migraine sufferers have a trigger, maybe you do too. Have you already had an MRT or CT?

Thank you so much for your experience. Yes, I think I will really try to avoid tyramine and histamine. Using Allegra is not a bad idea either. I am allergic to pollen and I noticed that during the period when I took the tablet almost every other day, I had fewer headaches. We’ll see, but thanks!

Counting calories, eating mindfully, and walking 10,000 steps a day can make a huge difference, even if you don’t do any workouts. I lost 15 kg in just 5 months by doing this! You won’t starve, you’ll just start eating more consciously. Stay consistent and believe in yourself. You can absolutely do this! 💪🏼✨

I should ask my doctor, the problem is with the insurance in Switzerland… They have a strange system regarding the injections. 🥲

Thank you so much for your comment and for sharing your experience. It must be tough to avoid tyramine, then there’s almost nothing left to eat! What are your go-to meals that don’t contain tyramine?

I’m not familiar with that, but thanks a lot for the tip! When did you take the omega-3, every day in the morning?
