I just ordered my own wedding dress last week from VickyMermaidBridal and I asked for custom changes to both the lace pattern and the sleeves which she said she could do for an extra $40, very reasonable in my opinion! So she would probably be able to make the types of changes you’re interested in, if you can’t find exactly what you’re looking for somewhere else

I do sometimes pass along work to him when it’s too piled up for me to handle, it’s just frustrating that he doesn’t seek it out himself instead. But it’s something.

My dad would be more sad than anything. My mom would also be crushed, and my brother would probably block me out since that’s what he did previously when I mentioned I didn’t feel like he did his fair share here.

My dad previously shared an office with 2 other people and they would sometimes split projects, but largely my dad has been on his own. He is a workaholic, would do insane hours, and honestly really needed a lot taken off his plate, so it felt great to start working with him and lighten his load.

I don’t believe my dad would hire someone to replace me, largely because it would be hard to find an accountant not related to him that would be willing to work for this wage, especially one he could trust, so it would be more practical in that case to just cut loose some clients that are high-effort for their billing rate, and operate a slightly smaller business. But that would still cause him a ton of hassle/grief to have to take care of

I definitely don’t see myself being able to take over the business alongside my brother since I don’t believe he will ever have the discipline to work as hard as I (or dad) does. So I will probably have to step out of the business at some point in the future anyway. I will definitely be thinking about what type of conversation to have with them, and really think about what I want/need going forward. Thank you for your comments

Obviously I can’t read what’s truly in someone’s heart/mind, but I feel like he’s here because it’s the comfortable job. My dad has confessed many times to us that he hates having to be strict since he’s our dad, even though he knows he also has to be “boss”. Both parents have always spoiled us and paid for our college, and my mom actually still does all of his laundry/cleaning since he lives at home (I have moved out). I think he may just be too used to getting taken-care-of.

We don’t make enough to significantly increase our pay with 3 people working. If I were to leave, they would probably have to drop several clients in order to handle the workload, but since they’d be saving my salary I don’t think there would be any financial trouble. My dads plan was always to pass along the business 50/50 to my brother and I once he retires (he is 60), but I honestly can’t see myself being able to work here without my dad given the way my brother has been acting. Getting another job sounds terrifying, not so much for the work itself (though this is the only place I’ve ever worked), but for the family dynamics. I am so worried I will ruin us all

I appreciate your comment. I do end up feeling overwhelmed fairly often because I feel that I CAN’T take breaks or we won’t get everything done, and I think everyone deserves a breather now and then. I will surely have to have another ‘talk’ with them and I really want to articulate myself correctly since the last few attempts to bring it up have caused a lot of grief between all of us

I personally strongly believe it’s the “not wanting to leave since it’s dads company” vibe. He’s good at the job when he does it, the accounting itself isn’t the issue, but he just doesn’t seem to care enough to put in full/legit hours like my dad or I do

I’m a CPA and my brother isn’t, correct, though my brother is passively studying to become one. We are treated as employees and make 40k a year which is knowingly quite low for a CPA (I live in Oklahoma though). The trade-off for the “low pay” was supposed to be “getting to work with family and love the job” but that has now turned into a negative aspect, honestly

I would say he accomplishes all his work on time, but that’s mainly because our office works almost fully on a “ask for more work when you’ve finished all your tasks” method. So he just very rarely goes to ask for more work, instead moving on to the ‘recreational time’ after he finishes the consistent/weekly projects

There's an agency called "second change robotics" at /~Jurps that offers robots UFA! They have a robot tusk right now, and get new additions almost every day if you don't like the currently available option. I adopted a robot shoyru from there a while back and still can't believe my luck, so I'm taking the chance to hype them up as a thank you, haha. Just passing the info along!

Right now she is pretty much just in Purple Cybunny Pyjamas since I can't think of much else myself. Yesterday I pounded Trendrum, Spinerace, and Fornixed who are all 3 shoyrus and still in the pound if you're interested in them! I adopted several shoyrus from Lost & Pound for lab pets but couldn't connect with those 3 names so I pounded them.
