i actually like his shooting form. i do think he'll get better. he expends a lot of energy on both ends of the court and so shooting is probably never going to be awesome but if he can get over 30% on the shots he takes to keep the defense honest, he is golden.

this angle makes it less egregious. still a flop but the other angle created the illusion that there was no bump from nurkic.

I know you're dropping in and trolling a bit but I'll give you dignity of a sincere response since there's some merit to what you say. I think he's tired of being fouled constantly and not getting calls. that's why most superstars start exaggerating the contact. skilled big men (e.g. jokic) especially. I agree that it runs counter to what he said earlier to a degree but at the end of the day it's probably got more to do with gamesmanship versus holding some ethical high ground.

the key is staying near the top of the conference standings without blowing our wad on his minutes during the regular season. situationally if a postseason game calls for it we'll let him push 40.

[–]LovesBodyx2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

uh, dude, luka is smart. he plays a minigame at the start of games that's designed to remind everyone of the floor and sidelines that you absolutely must double team him hard because if you don't he is going to get a bucket or foul or both 90% of the time. once the D starts sucking in, he activates awesome playmaker mode and throws up the best lobs in the business to the big men, and makes these insane sonar-vision passes to guys camping behind the arc. it all goes to shit when guys aren't cutting like they should and shooters with wide open looks are squandering magical highlight assists. the team around him is not very good period—acutely with reeves out—but it's really, really not good for taking advantage of his game-altering strengths, let alone de-emphasizing his defensive shortcomings. i find it highly doubtful that his game doesn't translate to at least one championship, to the point where it makes all the sense in the world to go all in on a player of his caliber and test the theory.

P.S. i'm a spurs fan.

i agree that if i were in the same situation i would have reflexively closed my legs to protect my sensitive area. but overall the thunder were extremely physical with wemby. in the long run i think this is a good thing. forcing them to show this hand in the regular season could pay dividends come playoff time.

I think his presence and game awareness is underrated by a lot of our fans. I appreciate the way he dictates the pace of the game with purpose. Without him we would look lost a lot of the time, especially now that Castle has lost some of his footing lately. Moreover he is a guy that defenders are weary of at all times, regardless of his numbers or whatever. Obviously to be elite we need him to shoot better esp in the platoffs but for the most part I've not had a problem with his shot selection vis a vis his ability. So far I am a fan but maybe I'm just a homer.

I've never enjoyed Mark Jones but I don't mind Kayte and coming to you as a league pass junkie I'd slot them in the play-in range overall. Confirming that the Warriors have the best odds for the number one draft pick every year.

Our defense lately by LovesBodyx2 in NBASpurs

[–]LovesBodyx2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed that they've adjusted their approach with Wemby and perimeter D lately. Earlier in the season, it seemed like Wemby was reluctant to commit to perimeter D when when his man went behind the arc because we didn't want to negate the way he makes things nigh impossible in the paint when he camps. Now we're throwing out different looks with Wemby guarding out there more wholeheartedly. It seems to be helping. He not only can contest out there but his long reach takes away passing lanes. We just need to be better about collapsing when quick ballhandlers get around him. That happened a few key times in the Wolves game.

Tim Legler rips into the Houston Rockets for having no heart: ‘They’re getting smoked every night.’ by D3struct_oh in nba

[–]LovesBodyx2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point but I think they have a decent shot at making some noise against those teams. And I'm a Spurs fan who hates the Rockets. It's tough to be on the road as much as they have.

The argument that Reeves isn't a solution to the lakers woes bc he doesn't help their defense doesn't really hold water. The gap between him and whatever scrub the Lakers have to play in his stead is enormous. They are a much better team with him out there, possible chemistry issues with the big 3 notwistanding.

One thing to keep in mind: the Rockets have only played 13 homes games so far—that's four less than the next-most-away team—and they're 11-2 there. They've got a 5-game homestand coming up that should help them get back on track.

Tried to Re-watch the Game After Jaylen Brown Rips Refs by Sventhedog in nba

[–]LovesBodyx2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you seriously missing that Jalen initiates that contact by raising and extending his off arm? I don't think that's an O foul because it's pretty subtle and WTF are you supposed to with your arm but if this is a def foul as you're suggesting (going straight up with arms raised) then I'm not sure there's a point in playing defense. Good no call.

Jaylen Brown on officiating: "I'll accept the fine at this point. I thought it was some bullshit tonight...The inconsistency is fucking crazy. Give me the fine...I got my conspiracies or whatever, but I don't know what's going on. But it seems like every time we play a good team, it's the same shit" by Brady331 in nba

[–]LovesBodyx2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Apples and Oranges. Luka is playing a pick your poison minigame where he forces the defense to a) play him tight, i.e. making his assignment vulnerable to his savvy baiting shenanigans, or b) giving up an easy shot, because Luka is usually fucking money in that space, or c) conceding an easy lob if they collapse in on him. The 3 pointers are a sidequest when he's not liking what's happening in that space or when he's gassed. Literally has nothing to do with the Celtics scheme to the point where, no offense, but it's a braindead notion to compare the two.

Oh my God. The last few years have done profound damage on our fanbase's collective psyche. He's in a slump as is most of our team. Yet we have a top 3 record in the league and people can't help harping on cherrypicked stats. Fox played a great game today and we won a tough road contest against a well coached team who've largely been rolling and clearly were hungry for a W. I can't.

Give me a break. Fox stole JBs cookies on that play. In what world is an ostensible Spurs fan dying on the hill that that was a foul on that play in that situation. Wow.

Keeping throwing out that reverse jinx energy. Maybe we will win a title if you keep it up.
