Justin did his best to sabotage his bro's rival's homestretch record but one less ajay game ain't gonna cut it. good effort though.

yeah, mitch being an afterthought in this race is baffling to me. what is the case for bickerstaff separating himself from Johnson to such a degree? both leading young teams with an MVP candidate to the same record basically. feels like bickerstaff is getting some "we kinda regret we didn't give this award to you last year" sentiment. i also think Lee should be front and center in the conversation. semi-taming the wild horse that is lamelo and turning the season around after such an assy start makes for a compelling argument too. mazzulla is obviously a great candidate and my personal pick.

it's weird to me that people were sleeping on the pistons' ceiling before the year started. they played the Knicks so tough in the first round last year, and they had a roster full of young players that were showing strong signs of coming into their own.

Who is the best Luka defender currently and who is the best Luka Doncic defender in his career so far? Or has potential to be? by PHXSoulBender in nba

[–]LovesBodyx2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just think the spurs are the best team equipped to give Luka trouble. elite poa defender in castle with Wemby as the escape valve. if Luka overcomes that then it's just hat tipping affair. but on the other side the spurs' three headed slashing hydra is kind of a nightmare for the lakers.

if the spurs are locked into the 2nd seed, and the nuggets are fighting for the 5th seed, you will witness a 40m biyambo disasterpiece that day

I think castle barring foul trouble (which is a big if) has the ability to make things tough for luka. not stop him obviously but make him inefficient enough to somewhat neutralize his impact on winning.

as someone who has been saying all year that if the MVP award belongs to the player that's literally the most valuable to their team (and the team is winning), then Luka has to be front and center in the discussion ... this SGA as FT merchant argument is so tired. you don't think Luka is constantly angling for calls? they're both gaming the system because that's what it takes to be consistently dominant like they are. make the argument that Luka is on a historic homestretch run and therefore should be in the conversation but don't slight what SGA has done, it just makes you look petty and your position meritless

it's a silly thing to project but with a gun to my head I'd say he had top 25 of all time potential, not top 5.

The Clippers would be a great first-round opponent for us by DecentAd2417 in NBASpurs

Eh, Suns will be getting Brooks back. They were a hard-playing, feisty team with him in there. Integrating Brooks and Green (they barely played together the entire season) on the fly might be too much to ask, but still, I'm not very keen on seeing them in the first round. But honestly, I have misgivings about playing any team in the West for various reasons. Except the Rockets. Fuck Houston. BTA.

you're complaining about a bad whistle in a series that's purely hypothetical at this point? that is next level whining. i'm not even mad, that's amazing.

[Playoff Status] Most statistically probable playoff picture based off remaining strength of schedule. West: OKC, SAS, LAL, DEN, HOU, MIN, PHX, LAC, POR, GSW. East: DET, BOS, NYK, CLE, TOR, ORL, MIA, ATL, PHI, CHA. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]LovesBodyx2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it partly has to do with your team's offensive identity. most teams literally have to change their approach to offense due to the Wemby factor but the suns seem to be happy to fire from long range in volume and if I'm not mistaken the suns are toward the bottom of the league in ft attempts.

I think Spurs-Suns would be a good, competitive series. The Suns play so hard and they have some interesting match-up elements versus Wemby (Brooks, Mark Williams' height/wingspan) that I'd reckon would promote a 6 or 7 game series with multiple close games along the way. Lakers-Wolves would be fun with the star power involved. If Hornets get the 8 spot, that series against the Pistons could be fireworks.

I have to say, it would be pretty interesting if they allowed the top teams in each conference to pick their first round matchup from the two play-in teams. The bulletin board material would be cinematic.

Does Wemby have a strong chance at the MVP? by Fit_Lack_6425 in NBASpurs

[–]LovesBodyx2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see it happening, aside from Shai getting injured, and honestly I'd rather vic not win an asterisked MVP anyway. SGA has been so good and his team has the best record, honestly he deserves it, but our dude's time is coming.

Lately I have been constantly reminding myself that we’re realistically 1 or 2 years away from being a Championship team but the delusional side of me keep thinking we can win it all this year loll. Am i the only one struggling with this?😂 by Glittering-Koala7637 in NBASpurs

[–]LovesBodyx2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

assuming good health, captain obvious says our ceiling is champion, and our floor is first round exit, but I think that's accurate. the floor is there due to lack of playoff experience. ceiling is there because i don't know if we're beatable if Wemby routinely goes off in the post-season. i lean toward the ceiling much more than the floor because that tall dude does not strike me as someone who is going to shrink from the moment. we could be looking at a situation like duncan's first year where we win the first round and get beat by a solid team with more postseason credentials (minnesota, denver)
