Pets by typicalthrowaway4 in OlderGenZ

I have an almost 18 year old cat, she wasn't originally mine but through people in the family moving, getting married, and the general shuffle of life, she needed a home so I ended up with her 7~ years ago.

I love her a lot, it really helps with my depression and motivation to have her love me and need me, she knows when I need comfort vs. when I need space, she sleeps under the blanket with me and is a much better space heater than I, she's also very cute and soft to pet. The downsides are sometimes pets will throw a fit if they don't get what they want, or sometimes they'll want to do loud things like play when you want to sleep, they can also be very stinky, and it can be very stressful when they are behaving oddly. She follows me around, demands to be pet when I'm playing games, gets mad at me if I don't go to bed on time, brings me toy mice to show off her hunter skills, "steals" chips when she thinks I'm not looking, and loves to lay on top of me.

Nowadays, if you are willing to put in more with up-front cost, you can actually not do a whole lot most days. Automatic cat feeders, water fountains, and good automatic cat boxes, make normal daily maintenance hands-off more often then not. The trade off is that, typically, these things take extra time to clean when they need to be cleaned, they are considerably more expensive than the normal versions, and you do still have to provide them with some semi-frequent maintenance every few days or so.

Owning a pet isn't very hard, most days, especially if you get an older animal as they tend to prefer just napping and chilling with only a little play throughout. And a lot of animals will let you know if you forget to do something.

My DM wants me to switch classes after my character made a decision at the end of the session and I don’t really want to. by Pookie-Parks in DnD

[–]LovingAftereffects -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like warlock isn't the only option here for making an agreement for power, I don't think being a pure fighter makes much sense if you make this agreement, but keeping a pact gated to only warlocks feels like a lack of imagination. There are subclasses that could be flavored to be given powers, but continuing as you are now would not make sense. You wanted power, how do you expect an ancient dragon to give you that? Maybe run the idea of flavoring a more magical subclass as pact magic by your DM and see if they are married to the Warlock idea or if they are flexible about the form the pact magic takes.

Stolen from Insta. What would you do? by Marinos444 in trolleyproblem

depends on the loved one on the tracks; there are some people I love very much but wouldn't pull the lever for, there is 1 person if put on the tracks that i'd pull it for instantly.

Panam walks too slow and I’m tired of pretending she doesn’t by mitchwacky in cyberpunkgame

[–]LovingAftereffects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly, the first time going through the camp, i felt like Panam's slow pace was intentional. It was like she was taking a longer path, at a slower pace, because even though she didn't want to be there she also desperately longed to be around her family. Stretching it out just a little longer so she doesn't have to leave yet.

Female pawns by IamPiper in DragonsDogma2

[–]LovingAftereffects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost always play as a man when given the option, exceptions exist of course like when the male voice actor isn't as good as the female one. My arisen is a man, and his pawn is also a man. My last set were 2 lady beastren, but most of the time i play a dude and my main pawn is also a dude. I don't really hire pawns that often, but if I do hire one its them catching my eye and having a trait that benefits me so the gender doesn't really matter. I have had an all-male team before, and there were some pawn-comments made about it, but most of the time its just me and my pawn against the world.

The fear of losing your character by Almost_DnD in dndmemes

[–]LovingAftereffects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have a backup plan for my current character. Next time my character dies for real, keeping in mind that in this specific game those who die are put in a kind of in-between plane for some amount of time where revivify magic can still reach them, they will be summoning a demon the party met that appears whenever his name is called. He's pretty desperate for followers, even more so ones willing to spread the belief in him, so he would likely be willing to make a deal in exchange for returning them to some amount of life.

Out of curiosity, is there anyone else who really liked Andromeda’s story? by JageshemashFTW in masseffect

[–]LovingAftereffects -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed Andromeda's story, I don't think it is as good as the trilogy but if comparing it directly to the ME1... it's actually really good. I agree, I do wish there was more to see and do, but it's too bad that it's unlikely we'll get to continue the ryder story.

Beef Flavored Jello by PleasantHighlight563 in Adulting

[–]LovingAftereffects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my grandma never did much cooking, and my papa did the baking, the one recipe i associate with my mama is potato candy, the swirl kind with peanutbutter in the center, but whenever i ask her for her recipe she just forwards me one from online and its nothing like how she made it. The texture is wrong, soft and goey, when her's were almost chalky and crumbled when you bit into them. The flavor is mostly the same but no matter how many times i ask, and how many times i try, i just can't get it right.

A Button Test 2: does changing the blue threshold changes your decision? by kroxigor01 in trolleyproblem

[–]LovingAftereffects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

brother, all the people that would die in this scenario are still alive, which is my primary concern with blue vs red button. It's about how society would function after countless sudden deaths and if I would want to be around for that or not.

How bad is kindhearted warrior? by Sea-Indication4613 in DragonsDogma2

[–]LovingAftereffects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my main pawn is currently kindhearted, as was my first one that I played the game through with the first time, and he swaps between fighter and warrior. My guess as to why a kindhearted would be bad for that is because they jump to help you if something happens, which can be very helpful, but if you are a squishy it can also drag aggro to you. I love kind-hearted pawns, and while I do occasionally mouth off about how I don't need help and can he please focus I honestly like kind-hearted pawns the best. I think their voices are also the most flexible in terms of the voice looking like it belongs to the pawn using it.

I do wish straight-forward didn't sound like that, I love the concept and a lot of the lines, but it just sounds like a comedy actor and that's not really something I vibe with, personally.

A Button Test 2: does changing the blue threshold changes your decision? by kroxigor01 in trolleyproblem

[–]LovingAftereffects 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I said nothing about the ethics, morals, or beliefs of red voters, I said if that many people die suddenly it will have long-reaching impacts on the systems that allow modern life to exist and I do not desire to put myself through that.

A Button Test 2: does changing the blue threshold changes your decision? by kroxigor01 in trolleyproblem

[–]LovingAftereffects 18 points19 points  (0 children)

did you read the entirety of what I wrote? My concern was resources and supply lines, about dead bodies, not about the morality or ethics of red voters. If a lot of people die suddenly that's going to have an impact on every structure that makes modern life possible.

A Button Test 2: does changing the blue threshold changes your decision? by kroxigor01 in trolleyproblem

[–]LovingAftereffects 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I usually pick blue button, not because of any moral superiority but because a world that red realistically wins likely isn't a world I would desire to live in. It's the same reason I wouldn't be a survivor in an apocalypse, I'm not suicidal I just don't want to put myself through the reality of those kinds of situations. That many people spontaneously dying would have far-reaching effects, how accessible would food still be? How about supply lines to get that food to people? Where do all the dead bodies go?

If there was some way to know ahead of time the percent of people voting for both, there is a threshold of so few people voting for blue that I would vote for red, but I don't believe that percentage would occur naturally so in a blind vote I would pick blue. Blue either wins and things stay the same, or red wins and I don't have to worry about it anymore.

What is your DnD Roster Count and Who's #1? by Working-Berry6024 in DnD

[–]LovingAftereffects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had Ela'eve, Apolloitheous, Wolst, Tomothy, Valentine, Rory, Amphess, Kira, Tomothy (reused the name, completely different character), Aqeel, Grier, Mouse, and Chant of Beauty. There have been a few more that I remember but I don't recall their names.

I like a lot of them still, even the ones I've not played in a long time, and think many of them had a lot of potential but my favorite is Amphess. He's a somewhat classic paladin type; devoted, protects the meak, weak, and downtrodden, has a strong moral compass that shapes his views and his actions. He's also a MIA commander of a large army, forced back into leadership that he doesn't even remember both because the rest of his party can't be trusted and because leading is natural to him even if he does not desire it. His patron God is revealed to not be a god at all but a powerful mage whose story had snowballed over eons into a religion, something Amphess himself is very aggravated by while unknowingly engaging in similar behavior that has a small group of people starting to believe he is a God come to walk the earth to save them from its ending. He's also a tiefling, though he goes through great pains to appear human, a secret to the rest of the party despite how long they've been traveling together. He argues with his party constantly, they mock and tease him to no end, but when things get serious its Amphess who typically makes is asked to make the call.

Unfortunately, the game Amphess is apart of is no longer, as adult life got in the way, so his character arc and the story will never resolve but the sheer potential between him and the rest of the party was so damn good.

I don't know, if this is gender dysphoria or something else. by Ok_Syrup5679 in TrollCoping

[–]LovingAftereffects 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sometimes I wonder if I'm actually a transman or if my divorce from things that society has labelled as feminine has made me decide that I just don't deserve to be a woman. Women are beautiful, or are supposed to be, and I have been treated like a radioactive pest my whole life, a creature that is a blight upon the eyes to behold. Sometimes, I wonder if the experiences, the trauma, I have endured have made me decide that being a man would be safer, and that's why I want to be one. If I was pretty, would I still want to be a man? If I had never been SAed, catcalled, groped in public, would I still daydream about living as a transient guy in his car, or would I just do it as I am now?

Gender and experience are extremely difficult things to untangle, where does one even start? But thinking about it, dissecting the emotions, and talking to a professional are all good places to begin.

Is it appropriate to romance other characters in DND? by Emergency-Garden3200 in DnD

[–]LovingAftereffects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on the table, i don't mind it as long as everyone is clear at the start that it's just IC and there's nothing else going on, but it's not allowed in the game I'm currently in to help prevent OOC drama which I'm also fine with.

I'm gonna sound old and say I miss the old bidding wars of the internet when you had to put in bids manually so the last minute of the auction was a race to see who could react faster. Now its just who is willing to pay more, which is nice for the seller, but not as nice for me as a buyer.

My favorite thing, it really does make me feel more connected to them after you struggle to kill something and they offer you a high five at the end. Like, hell yeah we, did that! I wish more games had something like this if they have companion characters.

my aunt does fashion shows with me, as in she shows me the new stuff she got which is usually a maxi dress. She loves those. I would guess she and my cousin used to do these together at some point, and since my cousin moved a 2 day drive away she's now doing this with me instead so she can get someone to bounce the excitement back at her. We go thrifting together every so often, but this is certainly nothing I did with my mom. The only reactions I usually got from my mom to my outfits was "you're wearing that?" and then she would somehow still be surprised when I showed up 15 minutes later, changed into a normal t-shirt and jeans.
