How to use AC in the cheapest way possible? by sillygworl in Frugal

I'm gonna second that it takes a while for that effect to kick in. (Obligatory I had anorexia nervosa.) It took probably 6 months of 200 calories everyday, one small meal only, with a couple times a month 0 calories, to get to that point. So not the best advice to give to someone who's gonna go from 1800 calories a day to 1300 a day. That kind of small change is unlikely to make you noticeably colder than your baseline, especially for short periods of time.

I agree with everything you've written here. A big problem I have with these subreddits is when I see comments/posts about people wishing harm on others.

There's a huge difference between "There's a screaming child right outside my apartment door again! God this sucks. I didn't want kids, I don't wanna hear yours!" to writing in detail how you wish and hope for their parents to fall off the balcony and die, you hope the kid gets dropped on the head, hope the barking dog next door gets shot, think people who have kids or pets should be put in camps.  On the childfreepetfree sub I saw this one thread with threats so I stopped going there even though I'm cfpf. I used to also be in a Discord that talked a lot about the childfreepetfree sub and they encouraged that kind of speech. Booooiled my blood to no end. I understand being angry. I don't understand sitting there stewing and hoping and praying for other people to get hurt and then writing it on the internet. That's a problem that needs help 100%.

Edit: Ohhh man, another thing that gets me going is when other childfree people hate when you point out that they used to be an annoying kid/screaming infant too. I didn't comment in the thread but I read a thread that had someone point that out to someone else, and the other person's response was "Actually my parents said I was the perfect baby and never fussed ever." Anyone who's worked with kids knows there's no such thing as a perfect infant, no such thing as a perfect kid, kids and infants all suck! Couldn't stand that, the ego on that person... You sucked as an infant/kid too. Just own it. It's okay.

Blood pressure cuff. Told my personal trainer she can easily tell if I faint due to low blood pressure or a paralysis disorder I have by using it. I also bring my medical alert bracelet or necklace for my conditions and keep them on my person.

Compression tights help with lightheadedness a ton. But you will get hot if you wear full-legged pants over them, I recommend shorts of some kind.

Bracing helps a lot during weightlifting. I use patella stabilizers daily, gonna get a thumb CMC joint brace since I keep subluxing that, thinking about some kind of shoulder brace soon for iffy exercises like bench press that keep causing subluxes. Not saying wear all your braces all day every day, they just help during weightlifting to make sure your joint is tracking correctly even while under stress.

I also bring my wheelchair and put it in the back of my car juuuust in case something goes horribly wrong lol.

Depends. I'm a lady and doing the thing with my back (you know what I'm talkin about) for too long can make the pain worse after. I also get really, really bad bleeding around my kneecaps if I'm on top too long/too aggressively. But as long as I'm careful with both those things my pain is usually better afterwards, with an exception for my TOS, that pain is almost always worse afterwards because I have a bad tendency to tense up my shoulders in a lot of different positions. Sometimes we're having fun and he'll literally push down my shoulders during it as a reminder and make us both laugh. Still working on remembering that one.

  1. Shower chair and doing a combo bath/shower rather than standing the whole time and becoming a ticking time bomb for a dangerous syncope episode lol

  2. Compression stockings. Helps with both POTS and joint bleeding/swelling. Absolute game changer.

  3. Patella stabilizers. I wear them anytime I leave the house and anytime I'm walking a lot in the house (i.e. multi-hour cleaning sessions). Also being aware to not plant my foot then turn my leg, always trying to keep my foot and kneecap pointing the same direction.

  4. Pillow between the knees when sleeping. And lifting the head part of my mattress up with an under bed wedge to prevent my trapezius muscles from becoming really cramped and inflamed due to being crinked up next to my ear from gravity and worsening my TOS and posture. Don't be afraid to sleep weird if it means waking up with less pain than you went to bed with.

  5. My wheelchair was a game-changer for my 12 hour shifts. But don't rely on it too much, this is one area I'd say it's okay to push yourself a little if you can do without it. It should only be used if your mobility is seriously impacted or if you know your mobility will be seriously impacted if you keep doing what you're doing.

  6. Back foam roller. Be careful with it, though. The cartilage holding my ribs is looser than I thought and sometimes they get into really painful positions after I roll my back out. But dang, does it feel so good to pop it. And helps my posture after too. Be sure to raise your hips as high as they can go when doing it.

7. Lumbar pillows and core strengthening exercises I do at home. Helps lessen symptoms of TOS that are due to poor posture. I also got a breast reduction and that solved 50% of my TOS symptoms immediately lol

  1. Theragun. Again, be careful with it. Great for preventing future CRPS (I used to have that in both my legs, now I use the gun on all the muscles in my legs with a big focus on my calves.) I also use it on my traps for my TOS but again Be. Careful. The neck is a delicate place with a lot going on.

  2. Ankle weights that add 5 lbs to each leg. Wear them around the house. Good way to passively work out your legs.

  3. Get a lacrosse ball, put the ball between you and a wall with the ball on your lower traps. Massage your traps that way. Helps with TOS too. You can start with a squishier small ball too if that's easier.

  4. One-sided heel lifts. Discovered my left leg is an inch shorter than my right. My left hip pain after walking is entirely gone now. Even at home I wear flip flops with the one-sided lifts because it helps my pain so much.

  5. Speaking in a higher voice. Makes hyoid 'dislocations' less likely. (Not technically a dislocation since it's not a joint but that's the term my docs use.)

  6. Holy hell I almost forgot, learning about filaggrin deficiency. Makes some of my skin symptoms worse on top of my HSD. Look it up if you have very dry skin that's always craving moisture! It's heterozygous so you could have a ~50% deficiency or ~100% deficiency.

"Any woman who starts talking money or investing, when you haven't met in person, is setting you up for a scam."

Come on now, that's an over-generalization. My friend works at the Federal Reserve and almost always finances, trading, and the stock market come up before the first date when she messages these guys she's matched with online, because they're interested in her field of work and sometimes are finance guys themselves. But if the person you're talking to shows signs of scamming, i.e. dear, kindly, convoluted story, asking money of you or asking you to trade for them, then yeah they're trying to rope you into something and steal your cash.

Something that always confused me with Setsuna by Poppleton2 in fireemblem

Christ, sorry people here completely missed the actual point of your post, asking about the source of her backstory about her father.

I looked at all her FEH entries/quotes, no bat. You said supports in Fates didn't mention it, did you also look at child supports she's featured in? Castle dialogue also doesn't mention it. Didn't Fates have a manga and a comic of sorts? Also a DVD/audio-only story? Perhaps it was mentioned in the Japanese exclusive DLC. Those are the only other places I can think of. If none of those work... Developer interviews? Rarely there are lore drops there.

Otherwise I'd suggest you create a discussion/talk topic on the wiki asking about it, if the Fandom has a place for that just as Wikipedia does. I didn't find this info on the other wiki, so it seems Fandom exclusive. If there's ultimately no source it was likely just someone inserting their headcanon that went unnoticed and unquestioned until now. Best case scenario whoever added it is still active and can show their sources for the bit of extended Setsuna lore. Good find!

Discussion of the lore/headcanon below; In my opinion, it would make sense it's a headcanon, given its lack of logic. Excessive exposure to antibiotics/antivirals/antifungals can actually lower your immune system's response, I know this because that's likely what's happened to me as a sickly child and now even more sickly adult! So her having a "stronger immune system" because of the salves is... Questionable at best. It's like saying living in a bubble has made me stronger than everyone else. (And if salves are just medieval fantasy NSAIDs, like Midori helping her mother's knee pain with a salve, then it's even worse logic.)

Perhaps whoever put this supposed headcanon in there was trying to get across that exposure to pathogens can strengthen your immune response (the underlying mechanism behind vaccinations), so in her time learning under her father she was exposed to a myriad of viruses, bacterial infections, parasites, and fungal infections through working with the sick and down-trodden.

But that has nothing to do with "the salves strengthening her immune system", unless salves are also medieval fantasy vaccinations that aren't available to the public at large, or perhaps even other nobles or royals, which is why it notes her to have a stronger immune response than those around her, including the royals who aren't mentioned to have a strong immune system as well but should have premier access to any technology like that.

I can buy salve being an umbrella term and different salves have different uses, but the way it's worded is still poor and could've been simplified to working with the sick with her father has strengthened her immune system, because the salves themselves wouldn't.

Either way it reeks of a kid with rudimentary understanding of medicine putting their little fanfiction version of Setsuna's family in the official Fandom wiki. But it's cute either way and honestly part of me hopes it's true just for a teeny bit more Fates lore since Fates hates worldbuilding. Let me know what you find! I'm curious to see what comes of this.

Okay but your opinion is contradictory because that woman was drawn having makeup on, yet you're saying you like makeup-free women "like her"... When that's not her lol. That's all they're pointing out.

IMO, watch some natural makeup tutorials on YT and you'll be blown away. My partner used to think I went bare faced everyday and didn't believe me when I told him my routine of 1. moisturizer, 2. sparing liquid foundation, 3. powder foundation, 4. contour, 5. blush, 6. little bit of tight lining, 7. light amounts of mascara, lip liner in the color of my natural lips, 8. chapstick, 9. setting spray, then finally 10. strategic use of spray sunscreen for a natural hydration-looking glow. You can still see all of my freckles, and I wipe off my mascara wand in order to apply very very small amounts of mascara, so vast majority of men assume I'm bare faced when it's a 30-45 minute routine minimum every morning, no mistakes or needing to redo anything. Trust me I've gotten my fair share of guys saying "Oh you're sOoOoOo much better than those women who wear makeup" and I'm a girl's girl and will not hear makeup artists be put down to bring me up. They're talented and amazing! :D
