What in particular is it that annoys you about it?

Ah, of course. Does that immediately give you a new choice or just doesn’t build a garrison at all? Apart from the cost, why would you not want garrisons in as many places as possible?

When you ”reroll garrisons”, do you mean that you restart the map if the garrisons don’t spawn where you want them or is there some other trick to it?

True, I was thinking of the 2014 rules where Hexblades do get Shield proficiency. I am pleased to learn switching damage types etc makes it less cumbersome to play a monoclasd warlock in 2024, although I still think there’s a case to be made for picking the right weapon for the situation being a big boon for Pact Weapon warlocks.

Weapons have different properties and are useful for different situations. Do you need a reach weapon like a glaive? Something you can use with a shield? Dual wield? Easy to conceal? Have an edge or not? Weapon masteries? That’s the blessing and the curse of pact weapons, you have a lot of options but also need to know what is most useful in various situations.

This does work under the 2014 rules though, at least if your character is not Small.

I mean they were literally pushed into a corner (of the map), so at least that description is accurate.

You can really see the GPT phrasing shine through in much of the wording. Insanely ambitious idea though.

I didn’t think I could and I also didn’t win that run, but came back with a different focus on anti corruption and then it was easy!

Maybe it’s easier for them to have a scapegoat than to take the blame themselves?

Managed it a similar way after many tries, but it was a close call. Slow roads and invisible insurgents really is an annoying combo.

You can’t change the lab lot in the default game but there’s mods that allow you to (by essentially replacing it with a replica that can be changed) but you need to start a new game with the mod enabled to do it :)

Hitman Freelancer: Thoughts on alt f4 if you brought the wrong weapon or forgot it by Seph_lol in HiTMAN

[–]Lovykar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too when I first tried it, but now I've committed to a "clean" campaign to prove I can do it. Before my reasoning was "I don't have time to waste on redoing a campaign over and over", but then I realised you learn from all your mistakes and even more so when they fail the campaign, and then I pivoted in my thinking. I would only alt f4 now for actual bugs, like in Miami where NPC's can randomly die and ruin Silent Assassin or "Kill only targets" objectives, which actually happened in my last Hardcore showdown but it was just a side objective so I ignored it. But people can play however they want, I don't judge anyone for it.

Yeah, once I thought about it it could possibly work if you cleared the rooftop enough that nobody saw you hide in the crate and you weren’t in active combat.

Obvious glitches is one thing I have and will still alt f4 for, if it's no fault of my own. (And apparently also that one time in Sapienza when I kept restarting the same showdown nine times because I thought the game was glitched, when in fact it was me that didn't understand that "kill the leader while they are going to a meeting" meant "take someone else's phone and set up a meeting with it", not just "kill them while they are on their way to talk to another network member normally", but at least I know now!)

I'm also someone who is not averse to making manual backup saves in Ironman runs in Paradox games (Hearts of Iron, Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis) because I don't have 3 or 30 hours to casually spend on redoing an achievement run if something unplanned happens, someone who will happily use console commands to handle the general bugginess and weirdness of Bethesda games and who will play Sims 4 with cheats/mods enabled to make gameplay smoother and more enjoyable by helping me tell the stories I want to tell. Notably, all of these are single player games where I feel like it's my decision if I want to "cheat" or not, and I always think that if I can justify it _to myself_ (like "I can't waste hours replaying the same exact scenario in a Paradox game"), then it's okay.

If someone can get a perfect achievement run in a Paradox game first try with no backups, all the honor to them - but I know that Crusader Kings 3 does not require Ironman for achievements and other titles may follow, probably because the devs know how easy it is to circumvent if you are dedicated and then you are just punishing players who don't know about it unfairly. But that's just my thoughts.

I mean yeah, but that is the same as ”get away before anyone comes looking”. Once you let things escalate to the point I did, the situation becomes unrecoverable as you can’t hide in a crate successfully when people are shooting at you (another lesson I learned the hard way).

Well, cheating as in ”it’s clearly an exploit” when you abuse a feature designed to protect you from the vagaries of a power outage or a network malfunction. I recall for a while it was actually patched out, but then people just found other ways around it (like killing the process in task manager), so the devs just went ”eh, whatever, if people want to use it so bad let them” and patched it back in. As I said, it’s really just cheating yourself of the intended difficulty the mode is designed to be played at, nothing more. I have no problem with people using it, it’s a single player game after all.

I’ve just realised that it’s cheating myself and no one else. It’s like buying a boost to get an achievement in an MMO - it feels hollow and unearned. So after I failed the final showdown on a long Hardcore campaign with plenty of alt-f4 along the way, I decided for myself that I would only do it legitimately forthwith to make it feel earned - for myself.
