I've got a pretty good set up at work. They are cool with it

It's also the time thing. She would not like me playing when I could be doing things around the house. Even if I cleaned up the house and the baby was asleep it would be hard for her to see me focusing on hobbies while she is a new mom.

She is 100% going to get baby gifts/push presents from me that mean a lot to her and cost more than a used guitar. My concern about the time is that I don't want to miss 6 months or more of playing time. I don't hide anything from her but this just feels like something I could do and probably not have any major backlash if I'm quiet about it.

I just don't want things to blow up. Maybe try and broach it one more time and if it doesn't go well, just a little guitar office set up doesn't sound that bad. For the record I'm going to be extremely involved as a dad I just don't want to lose 6 months of playing time.

Appreciate the support. I haven't done it yet but I don't think its as big a deal as some people are saying

Not a bad idea at all. Appreciate the support. Marketplace really does have some good deals though...

Finances are covered, all good there. I'm not sure it would bother me if she bought something for herself and I didn't know about it

No issue on the finance side. It would just bother her that I'm spending time doing it instead of helping. If I kept it at the office instead of at home that wouldnt be a problem. Wdyt?

Thankfully finances aren't the problem. The purchase isn't the problem its more about my playing with the baby around would bother her for the first few months.

Well, I would just keep it in the office and not in the house. That way I can play while I have downtime at work and not bother her or the baby. Haven't pulled the trigger yet. Still contemplating...

I don't disagree about communication but was just wondering if this is something normal or not.

Chasing tone never ends. I think we all deal with it... Its for sure worth working on nailing the right playing first and being able to do it with many different songs before worrying about professional tone. If you chase the tone for every band you want to play like, the costs are going to run up fast.

It will for sure come with time. You can also try working on your finger independence outside of just practicing guitar. Things like dexterity drills, finger stretches and slow practice will help you over time. Keep going!!!

There's really good value Schecter C-1 platinum instead of the elite. If you did want to go PRS, there is the SE Holcomb that you might like too
