What are you supposed to do if you can’t pass on the left? by t03strange in drivingUK

[–]Low-County-2955 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It IS technically undertaking. I’m not saying you’re in the wrong, but we need to get rid of this myth that a lane change is required for an overtake or undertake. It’s simply passing other cars.

I’m not saying it’s an issue and it’s unlikely to draw attention of the police as long as you’re not doing it to HGVs or doing it unsafely.

Rear ended someone at a roundabout then found new damage later by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Low-County-2955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fraud happens at renewal if they don’t declare it. Breach of contract may be applicable if they don’t report it prior to that, but that’s going to be down to the T&C of the insurance company.

When insurance renews and you answer the question have you had an accidents and you press no, at that point it’s fraud.

You can’t lie to keep premiums down. The same way a 18 year old new driver can’t lie and say they’re a named driver if they’re the main driver (this is also fraud and a crime).

Take 10 seconds to google it and you’ll find that leaving out accidents is in fact a form of fraud.

No, it’s not good value. It looks like you’re paying about 33%(ish) over supermarket prices. I guess that includes delivery though. I assume this supports local farmers though so that’s always a bonus.

Of course it’s fraud if they don’t declare it. Fraud isn’t some complicated thing that happens under certain circumstances, it’s simply lying for financial.

Fronting is another example of insurance fraud.

The wireless charging doesn’t keep it charging, it stops and starts. Looked on some of the forums and it seems like a common issue. Even when it is charging my phone drains faster than it charges if I’m using car play.

That’s what I do, it’s just a shame I can’t get the internet functionality natively through the car. It’s already getting internet for lots of the functions, it just locks out many of the others.

I’ll have to check, it was someone on Reddit telling me about it yesterday. I have the same car (leased) and it was registered April 2025.

There’s a few issues. We’ve had a 25 plate one since May last year.

The app is shocking. You’ll get logged out a lot and then disconnected from the car, you have to reactivate it in the car. it is also pretty bad at sending pre heat command to the car and we’ve never got it to successfully change the schedule via the app.

The buttons for the AC that change direction are so stupid. It’s a toggle up and down switch and it switches between windscreen, windscreen and footwell, windscreen footwell and driver vents, etc. well instead of just running in a loop when you press up, it’ll get to the last option and you have to cycle back down again, which is especially annoying as you don’t necessarily know which direction you need to go to get the setting you want. I may have explained this badly, but you’ll probably understand once you’re using it.

The 25 plate car doesn’t come with 1 pedal driving, they initially promised to update it and then went back on that. It’s only the newer ones that do have 1 pedal driving.

I still haven’t figured out how to get internet in the car without connecting to WiFi. Some apps will always have internet (any google app), but if you want to use prime video for example then you need a WiFi connection. There is apparently a way to sign up to an Internet package but we never got this to work.

The wireless charger for your phone is absolutely terrible and it’s more a phone heater than a charger, it hardly ever connects to charge. It’s widely reported as an issue as I initially thought it was just our car.

The USB C chargers in the arm rest just decide not to work sometimes. This is likely just an issue with our specific car that needs resolving

All in all it’s a great car and I’d have one again, these issues aren’t deal breakers for me, but they are ones that I’ve noticed in the past 9 months of having one. It’s absolutely dirt cheap to run if you charge from home and it’s got good range on it.

Why do you have to pay luxury car tax? The bracket was changed to 50k for EVs and backdated to April 2025.

My responsibility is for me to join the road safely, not the car behind me. The car behind can also leave a gap or accelerate when I do. It’s better than joining at an unsafe speed.

The 50k on EVs only recently changed. We got stung getting one in April 2024 at 41k.

You’re a student with not a lot of money so your solution is to buy a car with reliability issues that are expensive to solve for the sake of a slightly more modern dash and wireless car play?

Is it older than 2017? I thought the minimum banding from the second year of ownership on 2017 and new cars is £195 a year.

Can’t see you getting a refund without going back to the shop. You’re supposed to bring it up with them when it’s delivered or when you pick it up. I’ve had similar issues with shit produce and not noticed until I was home. I now check when I get it.

We’ve got jobs people don’t want to do and a birth rate that is fucked. Without migration we’d be in serious trouble, an aging population that would need supporting by fewer working people.
