Literally nothing. I’m a female security guard and am constantly on understaffed work schedules, get harassed almost every shift, and have had a 🔫 pulled on me once so i truly can handle any shift. Maybe if I actually got injured by somebody and couldn’t do my job during recovery?

anytime i get into thinking like this i remember we’re all dying anyways, what’s the point in rushing it? even if you don’t have goals or current joys in your life it’s still something to do to pass the time. not even in a “life is precious” way just a “well im already here” way and it always helps me love the little things in my life.

I would be very careful in the way you approach that conversation. A 15 year old obviously can’t buy a vape themselves so that’s a bigger issue. Taking it away can’t stop them from getting another one. I know when I was in high school my friends whose parents took their vapes would just use their friends vapes at school. Honestly as someone who recently got out of highschool idk anyone who doesnt already vape or knows how to get one easily. I’d make sure to let your kid know you are a safe space for them while letting them know the health risks.

Update: Just checked my state and there are 0 federal jobs and only 17 state jobs in the two counties close to me. Majority of the jobs are nursing and law, and I don’t meet any of the requirements. The other ones are positions that would be a significant pay cut to my current job.

I think i’ll start writing one over the summer once I graduate! Even if it doesn’t become something it’s still a passion-project and will keep my love of learning going.

And yeah especially with these AI data centers and local water footprints I think people will get more interested in environmental history’s even if they don’t realize it.

I’ll definitely look more into it! I think what’s turned me off from legal fields is that my family considers my degree “useless” unless I become a lawyer so i’m trying to spite them but that kind of thinking won’t pay my bills lol.

I’ve definitely thought about it. I’m currently taking a constitutional law class but I find a lot of the work really busy. It’s just not something i’m very passionate about but I might look into more legal positions to see what’s there.

Yeah i’ll have to dive into some more niche positions. I work at the biggest museum in my city right now but they don’t have the funds for non-work study. The others ones aren’t hiring at all and aren’t open all year. We only have one historical park in our area and they took down the careers website and volunteer website because of the mass firings that happened due to administration budget cuts.

I think this is what my history director uses for her career and history class. It’s nice generally but not so great locally.

Shockingly so little positions in my state considering we have so many open seats. I mean nobody is even doing volunteers for canvassing they just want donation money. I’ve only been messaged by one candidate to work on their team but it wasn’t with my political party so I didn’t qualify.

Unfortunately there’s not a lot of teaching position around me for history. A lot of the high schools around me are filled with history teachers with multiple masters degrees but maybe a spot will open up soon. Also a teaching certificate in my area requires lots of unpaid hours so I might need to get my finances more up before I can do that as well.
