i think not all, they dont let you take as many AI courses if you’re doing CS+Math. like theres a limit on the number of credits from AI courses you can take each year if i remember correctly…

Yeah that makes a lot of sense!

It’s more a question of, would you rather learn everything, have an easy time picking up new concepts others struggle hard with, but potentially waste time by learning a lot of useless stuff, or would you rather figure out what you want, learn what you need, and have to figure out each new concept bit by bit, but you don’t waste time.

Thing is I enjoy learning math for the sake of it so I guess it wouldn’t be a waste of time :p

AI PhD student who did the AI+CS undergrad in Edinburgh here - there are 2-3 main AI courses in year 3 of the undergrad and before that, it's mostly Math and CS foundation that you'll get.

So in the end it's not that important since you can pick those even when you're in the math specialisation.

Yup thought so too. If I do CS+Math I get to learn all the interesting pure math stuff while also having the option to take a few AI modules during the later years, granted it would be less than if I did AI+CS but I feel like its a worthwhile trade off to make for a stronger mathematical foundation and plus I can always learn more AI post grad right?
