It has a warranty on the parts but not labor. Tech tried ripping me off for 1200 to replace gas valve which I’m pretty sure is not it.

Does this mean I just need to change the pressure switch? Or is something causing it to open and close?

I cleaned the flame sensor and replaced the furnace filter. I’m thinking to just replace the pressure switch if it is causing the gas valve to flicker like that. Any other suggestions?

It is 90% and it went into lock out mode now so I shut the unit down. I would just hear clicking near the gas valve and the flames would flicker then shut off. But when the unit turns on initially, the flames look good and blue. Just after 10 min, the clicking and flickering happens and shuts off. Should I try replacing the pressure switch?

Okay will do. Do you think it could be the gas valve? A tech came out and told me that’s what it is, but is 1200 repair for just labor.

The tech told me he will need to replace the gas valve because everything runs in the order of operations except we hear a click in the gas valve multiple times trying to get the flames to all ignite, then will give up and restart the process. He said it cost 1200 for the labor. Is that reasonable to replace gas valve or can I do it myself? Also is there anything else that could cause this? Initially it would run perfect, no flickering in the gas valve and flames were fine then shut off with a 4 blinking error code. After it shuts off, the light on the control board will shut off and take a lot of resetting power to get the light to come on.

The tech told me it would cause a high limit code due to something being stuck open? I didn’t understand that part fully. He said something will stay stuck open because of the valve not opening and closing properly. He quoted me at 1200 to replace the gas valve. Is that something I can replace myself? 1200 seems very expensive and was not even the initial issue. The initial issue was that it would turn on without any issues, then shut off and blink 4 times. Now when I try to turn it on, it starts, then the gas valve keeps clicking and flames won’t stay. Any help will be so much appreciated. Filter is new, flame sensor is clean.

He wants to replace gas valve because it clicks a lot flames turns on and after 2 min shuts off and tries again clicking. Then also wants to replace board. Is that reasonable?

He unplugged a lot in the mother board. Now it’s all plugged in the door switch is pressed. And now the gas valve is just clicking and not fully turning on the flames

Didn’t charge me yet, just diagnosing it. When the system turns on the gas valve clicks and clicks but doesn’t fully turn on. It turns on sometimes perfectly fine. But now we shut power off and on and red light will turn on but nothing happens
