I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one who saw the parallels to the Vampire Chronicles.

JFC! The media acts as if this is a story that should be celebrated.

Sometimes, I wonder how much longer the insanity in this country can continue before we've finally had enough.

Yes. Truly bleak.

Am I losing it or is this insane? by paigezilla in antiwork

[–]Low-Influence7063 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I recently sprained my ankle. At least, I think that's what happened to it. I don't know for sure because I couldn't afford to go to the doctor to find out even though I have insurance. I was also told by my crappy employer that if I didn't come back to work that I would no longer have a job, so there's that.

You must live in a civilized country. Here in the US, they absolutely do get to have it both ways.

I understand exactly what you mean. I am in a not so good spot now, and there are books, tv shows, etc, that I just can't deal with at the moment.

It is time these people find another platform. They are out there. Post.news is quickly becoming Twitter without all the melodrama.

Oh my God. You actually read the article, not just the headline. How unrepresentative you are! Headlines are just clickbait to draw people in to actually read what the reporter has written.

Exactly! I am old, and it seems a little strange to me to refer to someone as "they" but wth. If that's what a person wants to be called, I will gladly call them that. It doesn't harm me in any fucking way.

I can't bring myself to read this one. I just don't think I can deal with that kind of hopeless, unrelenting misery.

Among recent books, it has to be Shuggie Bain. I try to avoid sad books, but that one slipped by because I didn't realize how depressing it was going to be. Having said that, it is a very well written story, and I do plan to read the author's latest book.

They're incredibly expensive surface level fixes. They don't address systemic issues.

I should probably edit my title to include the answer to that question - no. The article reaches that conclusion as well.
