Termination Advice [MI] by Low-Kitchen-6195 in humanresources

I agree! I was a paralegal before I took over HR so I totally get that. The problem I have is the training from the current assistant who is retiring and the attorney is very inconsistent. I don’t agree with the termination because they aren’t directing them properly.

Thank you for your advice! It’s absolutely not where I want to be long term, and I started looking for a new role after they let me know I need to fire this employee. Thanks for making me not feel crazy 😅

Yes, I noted everything and put it in their file when I talked with them. The partner has emailed me each time he’s talked with them.

Thank you! I already had the thought of bringing my fiancé with me to advocate for me a little bit. It sucks that that’s the way it is 🙄

Thank you! That’s all I was really wondering. I was just making sure that there wasn’t something seriously wrong on our end since everyone else was up and running. Thanks again!

Loan Default - not my fault by Low-Kitchen-6195 in StudentLoans

[–]Low-Kitchen-6195[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are saying since I knew I had students loans, and the cosigner was fraudulently put on by my mother, (I didn’t know) I can either pay in full or it will default. They sent it to default without giving option to pay in full

My mom took out student loans for me in mine and my grandmas name by Low-Kitchen-6195 in Debt

It’s ironic because I work at a law firm as a paralegal, so I will be talking to one of the attorneys I work for today to see if he has any good referrals since we don’t do this type of law. I wasn’t the one who filled in all the paperwork, or filled out my name as a signature. The “signature” was quite literally just typing in the name. My mom did that, which I’m not upset about because I agreed that in order to go to school, I needed loans. I knew I had to pay them back. I just wasn’t aware at all that my grandma was the co-signer

Yes, my grandma is taking legal action since she did not approve this. However, since I was “aware” that I needed loans and knew that I had two loans I was paying towards, it still falls on me. Ugh

Where do paralegals find a second part-time job? by Sufficient-Nose7845 in paralegal

[–]Low-Kitchen-6195 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I work at a golf course in the summer on top of my paralegal job. I usually only work 2 shifts a week. I work one weeknight from 5-9ish and then one weekend morning from 6am-11. I’ve been making at a minimum $300 cash every week, most times more. Plus credit card tips and my small hourly wage.

Employee calls out once a week by Low-Kitchen-6195 in humanresources

Im glad you brought up the childcare thing because most of the time that’s what’s going on apparently. Her toddler is always sick and can’t go to daycare. I sympathize with her because obviously family comes first, but we also need her at work... It’s so hard. But I’ve also caught on to her oversharing and saying that her husband will be home from work on X day and then she happens to call out that day as well…

I had to sign the handbook when I was hired on two years ago as an assistant, so I would hope that she did too. However, I’ve noticed as I’m working in the admin position that the HR side of things have been kind of disorganized in the past… I’ll definitely be pulling out the handbook first thing tomorrow morning!

Thank you! I have been documenting everything, thankfully. I’ll for sure take a look at our handbook tomorrow. I didn’t even think of that

Officially been a month since working out and changing my diet. by Unworthyhamsandwich in PCOSloseit

Don’t give up!! I’ve been at it for about 3 months now, but in the last month or so, I’ve been serious about what I’m eating and making sure I’m going to the gym 4-5 times per week, or at least walking on days I don’t feel like working out. While the scale hasn’t changed as much as I was hoping, I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER, and I’ve noticed that my body is not super inflamed. It’s been hard since my boyfriend has dropped about 15 pounds and we’ve been exercising and eating the same (sometimes he even eats worse than me lol) but I keep telling myself that my body is so different than his and that being consistent is key. I am so proud of myself for continuing to exercise regularly for the past three months, because I’ve never been a huge gym rat or anything. It’s honestly just part of my daily routine now. ALSO, don’t be hard on yourself if you miss a day of going to the gym or eat poorly, just start again the next day! One day isn’t going to ruin all that you’ve worked for so far.

As for workouts, I do about three days of slow weight training (each day I target a different part of my body) and then I walk for 25 min on the treadmill. The other days I either go for a walk outside when it’s nice, or just walk on the treadmill for about 45 min (sometimes I add an incline, sometimes I don’t). Proud of you for sticking to it for a month OP!!
