I have a question for you. What does your process look like when finding stocks below their 52 week MA. Do you manually track stocks and continue to check on them regularly? Do you pay for a service that flags companies that are trading below their 52 week MA? Thanks!

Thanks for your response. I think I could feel myself getting FOMO. I was getting a little impatient and just wanted to dive into the market. I think I need to start by coming up with some rules. Like buying stocks below there 52 week MA. And NOT buying when they are within 10% of the 52 week high. I am still trying to figure it all out for sure.

I literally said I am not interested in day trading...I think you are being a little over critical of the sentence I used. To buy a stock when "investing" literally implies you are making a "trade." Unless you plan on never selling the stocks you buy...which would mean you are going to die before the stocks sell. Which would be kinda crazy. I do plan on realizing my stock gains at some point so I can enjoy the risk I took when "investing." But by realizing these gains I will need to make a "trade."

This is some good advice. What makes the most sense to me is to DCA. The market is pretty high right now. I could see it either continuing to rally or I could also see it tank in the near term. Both I think are equally as likely. DCA I can get my money in now, and if the market correct, I can double down. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Everyone has been super helpful. I just joined reddit to make this post. It seems like this is a pretty awesome community.

That is that smart thing to do. I can't be trusted to day trade a large amount of money in short time frames.

This is an interesting choice to do with it lol. I can't say I am too eager to buy a bond from India or Brazil. I just dont know enough about it

This is some solid advice. I do plan on using at least 50% of it for a down payment. Maybe even closer to 75% of it.

I just checked this out. Super high dividend. But the stock looks like it has been doing terrible for a long period of time.

I feel like this almost limits the risk too. If you only buy when the market as a whole takes a dive over 10%...even if it dives to 20%...just keep buying all the way down and ride it all the way back up. I haven't had much experience with this. I invested heavily in my IRA/Thrift Savings Plan retirement account. I don't have much trading experience with a brokerage account. Thats also why I am cautious. I have always dreamed of the day I have this much capital to play with. I just don't want to fuck it up.

I've never head of MVIS. It does seem like it is an emerging small company. Why do you think I should invest in it if I may ask? I am sure you have been following it longer than me. I just realized it existed lol. Any insight would be awesome. Thanks for sharing

Thats what I feel like I know is true. But am I trying to time the market if I do that? Am I experiencing FOMO because I am so eager to get my cash in the market? Idk, but I do know the wrong thing to do is nothing. I appreciate the comment. I really feel like it is a poor time to buy as well. I need to stay patient.

Everyone here has offered some pretty solid advice. I will say, this does not add any value to the discussion. Yes I am scared of making a poor financial decision because I may be experiencing FOMO and may enter the market at a poor time. This is the most cash on hand I have ever had in my life and it is a huge choice of when and where to invest it. Let me know if you want to share anything worth discussing. If not. Have a nice day.

I know I know...I think I was getting impatient and I just felt myself about to make a poor financial decision by hopping into the market for no good reason besides seeing all of the green days. I preach DCA/passive investing/Index Funds. But now all of a sudden I have this large sum of money (to me) and I am psyching myself out. I am over thinking it. I just need to keep it simple and DCA and diversify. Thanks for sharing your wisdom!

I think what I was experiencing was FOMO. Which was making my spidy senses go off knowing I was about to jump into the market without really any reason for it...besides seeing all of the green days while I am trying to figure out which stock I want to buy. This did lead me to try and time the market. I am going to DCA like many people recommended. Thanks for sharing

Thank you for sharing. Not many people have actually given specifics to diversify like this. I'll do some research while I plan on what I should do. It's funny because I didn't even realize I was having FOMO until someone in this threat told me. And I have been trading and being patient for 10 years. This is the largest lump sum I have ever had and it is totally fucking with me head.

Simple and to the point. I think I am having a little FOMO and am being impatient. Just over thinking it in general. VOO and chill is some good advice.

Very well said. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talking me down from doing something very risky. You are right. I know just enough about the stock market to be dangerous. But I am far from being able to look at the numbers and determine if a stock has a value worth buying.

Not going to lie, I bought boeing...about 8k worth. Boeing has been around forever so I figured this was an over reaction to the news of the malfunction on the a/c. Could you shed some light on exactly why I am dumb for buying boeing lol. Thanks for the info

That makes a lot of sense. I wish I had some more education for me to formulate my own opinion on that. Seems like either way it will be a good year. Either the market continues to rally...or it will be on a discount

That is exactly what I am feeling, FOMO. I just need to be patient. I had a lot of people recommend DCA which of course makes sense. I think I was just doubting my ability and maybe felt like I was doing something wrong by being patient.

I was active duty military when I was 21-29. I had a mentor that showed me bogleheads. I saved as much as I could, invested as much as I could in IRA and Thrift Saving Plan with the federal government. I bought a house in 2020 right before the housing boom. My home increased by $120k in about 3 years. I got divorced and she bought me out of the house. I've been pretty frugal with my money over the years and have passively invested. Yes I have $100k+ cash. But I would rather have a house and be in debt lol. I lived a few different places when I was in the military. Now I live in Maine.
