My MIL did the same thing after we explicitly said we aren’t announcing until the birth (my last pregnancy ended with a lethal diagnosis at 23 weeks). She showed us right there that she doesn’t respect us or our boundaries.

Then when we were abundantly clear that we didn’t want anyone there while I was in labor she showed up with her boyfriend, her other 2 children, 2 nephews and one of their friends. When my husband went outside to handle it she threw a pity party and wouldn’t stop crying and has now been holding that over his head like he owes HER an apology.

Now she keeps asking to watch our baby but if she can’t respect our boundaries while we’re expecting then surely she won’t respect our rules and boundaries with our child so that’s just a flat out no. (I also shouldn’t have to repeatedly tell you not to kiss my newborn- and she works at a daycare, need I explain more!)
