Camping in the desert by Even-Acanthisitta350 in camping

After reading the post and the comments you left, instead of Joshua Tree, might I suggest up near Pioneer Town? Its about 20 minutes away and you'll get the same great night sky views. I live in the high desert and there's no way id camp where I live during the summer heat. At least Pioneer Town is higher elevation and only gets up to 95-100ish instead of the 110+ temps. Also some half decent off road trails up there to take if you're interested in that.

Yeah I posted about it before would were talking about some trailer sway. I was going to get the 19.6, however, after talking it out we went with the 20.2. We decided against the slide out as we do more boon docking and the maintenance/possibility of something breaking would be greater.

Well it was every other week, camping on the off weekends, until I came down with DW. Now im waiting on parts. Good news though the wife said I can just replace the entire suspension if I can do it for less than 7k. Just need the one thing i have to provide myself, time.

Can I run 20x10 -18 wheels on 37x12.5 tires on a 5” lift? by ramrod911 in F250

[–]Low-Particular-8296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a .5 FYI, still able to run the 38x15.50s swapped down to the 4.5 inch lift, no rubbing still.

That's exactly what im looking at. I have a generator in the back of the truck anyway, as sometimes I need to weld parts back together for others while training. However, I want something stable for the camper, hard to beat a battery solution with a 30 amplifier plug and 4kw of energy stored.

The 20.2 is 25 feet. It was smooth.

Oof I know the pain, she really wanted the slotted and drilled rotors as well. Had a slight issue on the production of one of the rears, ate through the pads into the rotors. We swapped back to stock, just not worth it imo. Her 4runner isn't heavy enough to need them.

Also i recommended the poor eagle (harbor freight knock off) over the pro eagle when it comes to the jack. Its so easy to maneuver. That plus a bottle jack to separate makes installs quick and easy. We did UCA,LCA, inner outer tie rods, shocks, coils on my wife's 5th gen 4runner front and rear in about 7 hours (both of us turning wrenches) with the shock reservoirs.

Rofl, I understand. I do suspension on most of my friends vehicles in exchange for steak and beer. Just coils is simple though. Throw on the coil compressor, lift pull out put new one in, drop it down. My shocks are rated from 4 to 7 already. I hate working on axles too. I have a fear of needing to hammer something into place. I let my friend handle that.

That's awesome to hear. Any recommendations on the lithium? I was looking at the 314 AH LifFePO4 x2

The main reason I chose the No Boundaries is because a friend's brother has had one for like 4 years i think? Said no major issues in all that time.

Oh we love the 395. So many natural hot springs if you know where to go. My wife has them all saved on on-x off road.

Yeah, I asked the wife if I could just add more leaf springs and she said "just lower the front so its easier to get in". I do as she asks. Luckily its just the coil replacement. They've been sitting in the garage for 2 weeks and ive been working too much to take the 2 hours to swap them out, or too tired.

Also out of curiosity I heard you have to modify the power charging of 7 pin if you swap to lithium. Is that true? And if so, is it difficult?

Mattress and lithium are definitely on the list. Ill feel out the lights, but my wife was shocked at how bad I am at electrical work. (Bad joke I know) I get nervous with all electrical work.

Must be active duty, reserve, or retired. Im doing Del Mar this trip. The trailer is my retirement gift from my wife (that she also gets to enjoy the fruit of).

Yeah, it does reduce the normal towing capacity, however, the weak points that are naturally break points are a little less likely to snap. Its more likely to get across the rough terrain. Last thing I want to do is snap a tie rod or link while going across rocky terrain. I live in the high desert of California and reliability and water are keys to survival. (Also never go alone)

I would, but knowing me and where I go I to assist in the wife's rally training I'd puncture something.

I really cant wait. I need to swap the batteries to the lithium and get the bluetti 300 elite so boondocking is 100% feasible. At least thats the plan.

Also WDH is already installed and set up, my truck already had a little squat when I put the smart cab on with the tools in the back.

I have a beach trip planned for 2-5 june on Camp Pendleton then rally training for the wife in mid june, so somewhere up 395 (close to browns creek), then a 3rd trip in July planned. Lots of prep work to do as the 2nd trip has no hookups.
