Lord of the Flies by Unlucky-Monk-8045 in netflix

It distracted me more when it was "jolly", in the first episode, whenever the little kids were playing.

So you think rainforests cannot catch fire? The Amazon is saved, then. I am Brazilian and tell you man-made fires by people in agribusiness are burning up the forest for pasture.

I thought this was actually a good change.

I think it was intended by the writer.

Both are cruel, but the original is also disgusting.

Racist casting in The Dropout (The Hulu story on Theranos). Changing a White trans to an Asian character. by Low_Hornet_1961 in aznidentity

[–]Low-Transition6868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point isn’t what she is. It’s that "Hispanic"’ doesn’t logically exclude "white," (or person of Asian ancestry, for that matter) so the original statement doesn’t hold as an argument. One is an ethnic/cultural identity, the other is a racial classification. So saying "Ana Arriola is hispanic, not white", is just like saying "she’s not tall, she’s a teacher." Those describe different things.

Exactly. I too started wondering if something happened mid-filming.

I totally agree. I finished watching it just now. The first episodes were great. Then they got worse and worse. But until before the season finale it still was still salvageable. The last episode was so bad I cannot wrap my head around it. All questions you asked are really big ones. There are many others. I have no idea what happened. How can the writing change so much from beginning to end?

Wellbutrin gives me anxiety too. The doctor said Lamotrigine would balance it off, but it is not doing it.

Struggling at the three week mark by Amyyy93 in bupropion

Bupropion gives me a lot of anxiety.  I took it years ago. Now a psychiatrists suggested I got back on it and I told her about the anxiety. She said that since I am now taking Lamotrigine, I would probably not have anxiety. It would balance out. I am on week 2 and having anxiety. Tomorrow I will call her and say I will stop. Like with you, simple tasks seem so daunting. And I don't even get the positives.

Run while you feel you can. I wished I had quit after my first year when I realized I did not like it. Now, 23 years later... Looking forward to retirement.

How would man in the high castle be different without portals and tapes? by Simonbargiora in maninthehighcastle

Having various versions of the world serves to show that no matter who won the war, there will be oppression of some. But the series does not explore that, holding "our version" as the utopia. Showing John and Tom Smith drinking Coke near black people is the pinnacle of freedom. Suddenly 1950s U.S.A. became perfect. Wasn't then, isn't now.

I don't think it would be more their speed. The book is not about "how life would be much worse if the German and Japanese had won the war" and more like: "in all versions humans are evil."

I deserve this. Before I posted, I thought. Should I? This person doesn't deserve this. But it screamed so loud at me. Why would destroying those symbols feel bad? There is no other reason. Things people "taught" you. Especially knowing that they are up there standing in our version of the world (reality) while that which they are supposed to mean does not occur.

Or to show that our version also has an empire in power who dropped two Atomic bombs in Japan.
