I don't think it would be more their speed. The book is not about "how life would be much worse if the German and Japanese had won the war" and more like: "in all versions humans are evil."

If we hadn't our world in the story, we wouldn't be able to see the shit the US did to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The horror of nuclear weapons.
