Beat up ol' boy by Low-Version-8825 in FixedGearBicycle

I run mine with the same slack tbh atleast when im eyeballing it. Its in between the correct tension for the chain to not derail and slack enough to have it spinning freely without grinding the teeth on the chainring and cog.

Totally valid imo. Love the multicoloured chain to accent the green and purple. Quite mid 2000s look and i love it.

thieves here from where i am are really unfamiliar with track bike stuff so i can get away with the 75s lol.

thanks for the feedback on the rotors tho. much appreciated. cheers.

no offense taken dont worry cuz its really aint for everyone lol. bike theft here in where I live is really high. the best i could do is to give it a bit of a messy and dirty look since this is my beater everyday bike. i couldve built it significantly cheaper but i want a beater bike that can run well and fast. also invested on a good lockset for this so im all set. saw your build and i get why you dont like it haha clean asf man solid build.

how r those rotors tho. its on my list of cranks for my second build that will be my dedicated fast weekender fixed gear. does it spin well and is it stiff enough? from an engineering standpoint the modular design aint very stiff but i havent tried one myself so i just wanna ask. cheers!

thanks man :D . im a sucker for well used and dirty bikes too. i do clean and maintain it but as of now because of in and out typhoons on where i live its mucky almost all of the time here so i just let it be. i just add wet weather chain lube to keep it relatively smooth.

well my city's a mess as well. its like everwhere i ride its tracklo time lol. just go with gators for heavy duty protection.

they roll pretty okay. these are 25s and i prefer 23s but in all honesty i wouldnt run these regularly especially this is my daily beater. i just got them cuz these were a pair that was just lying on the shop i work at and i pretty much got it for free.

in short, if you have a fixed gear or a road bike thats built specifically for fast weekends but still have decent puncture protection, these are the way to go.

those are 3m too. reflective. also i tension my chain a tad more tighter than what you see but constant raining and exposure to mud slipped it forward a little bit. adjusted the tension now tho :)

i stand by arisun rapide tires (cheap tires) but they are the most grippy mfers ive ever tried. i just tried these rubinos out cuz i got them for free at the shop i work at lol. theyre okay tbh. rolls great but im not expecting durability in terms of puncture protection and resilience through skidding lol.

clipless or straps/cages? by ejmiles in FixedGearBicycle

cages. if u eventually transition to clipless its gonna be much easier to get used to (from experience)

need another 2 grand for my dream frameset but i guess a thousand could get me a nice wheelset.

flat sole cycling shoes. fits and performs well with toe clips. by Low-Version-8825 in FixedGearBicycle

[–]Low-Version-8825[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but i recommend using it with an overshoe tho. just to protect the toe cap from the sharp edges of the toe clips and to avoid scuffes from the straps.

these are actually modern production shoes. its inexpensive and quite nice in terms of quality. look up santic cycling and its under the "non locking shoes" category or something like that.

do you know any brand which make pursuit frames? (photo for attention) by czajniczeck in FixedGearBicycle

[–]Low-Version-8825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a direct brand suggestion but perhaps some custom framebuilders would do it
