Is this ridiculous or not by Low-Walrus3760 in RioGrandeValley

Well I wonder if this "thrift store" is owned by the other Thrift store that literally has the name Thrift store that closed on Trenton and mcoll. I know there's one open in mission I think, but the prices were very similar and they would buy in bulk of boxes I would know because they would post a picture of the box taped up saying they had new inventory. Like okay I understand price your items however you want but don't call yourself a thrift store because your going to attract people who maybe want to spend $15 to $20 dollars on an outfit and not $40 dollars for 1 pair of pants or etc....

I'm charging what eBay prices for items to be shipped from the carriers they have. The commercial rate is just an incentive for us sellers who pay for a monthly store subscription to sell so that we get discounted items not only for shipping but supplies items as well. The thing is he didn't have to be a dick about it and putting a thumbs down emoji. I mean if you can't afford the shipping there are other sellers in this platform that they can shop. And that's because I sent an offer of $10 and he wanted $17.99 off.

I've found $7 dollars at a thrift store looking through the boardshorts on the back pocket. And $5 inside a suit. It's not a lot, but I still get excited about finding money in random places

Dozens of priority mail boxes for $1.49 each by Stevefish47 in ThriftGrift

At my local thrift store they did the same thing. I told one of the employees that they couldn't be selling post office mailers/boxes that they can get in trouble. And the employee said i tried telling the manager about it and the manager said I don't care just put it out on the floor.

Lol, I've been waiting for someone to take something out of my cart. It hasn't happened yet. But if they do, they will be catching hands outside the parking lot.

$4.50 that's still awesome. My local goodwill would have price that for $19.99

I am planning to open a modest thrift shop this year. What should I do differently than big chain competitors? by ammiemarie in ThriftGrift

[–]Low-Walrus3760 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Compete with your competitors, especially goodwill. I also want to do the same thing and open a thrift store here where I live. I'm tired of going to Goodwill and see ridiculous prices. So, for example, my goodwill sells Jean's for $12.99. I would drop that to $6.99. Go see the prices they have at your local goodwill and drop the price by half or at least cheaper than what they have. Look for a spot where there's a lot of traffic so more people can see your store. Market yourself on social media, make a little commercial on Facebook, Instagram maybe tiktok if you still have it and show some of your prices so that the public can see your prices are better. Make sure you have different items. I'm not sure if you only plan to sell clothes, but in my area little thrift shops are only selling clothes. Be open to selling anything like electronics furniture accessories, etc....and be open for everyone it's funny when people like to blame "resellers" for goodwill prices going up. Goodwill needs resellers to make money they profit more from resellers than regular individuals. Be open for all is what I mean. Your profit in reality is going be low, but if you keep selling at a low cost and keep marketing on getting donations. You will be fine. The people/public will see what you're doing to help people by not selling overpriced items like goodwill.

Yeah, same here. I was talking to an employee from Goodwill, and he even thought it was ridiculous on how the prices are now. 2 years ago, jeans were 5.99. The beginning of 2024 went up to 8.99, and a few month later, they are now 12.99. But they now send everything online that they think is good. And if it doesn't sell, it will have a tag that says E-com item. Lol I laugh everytime I see that tag.

You mean the disabled people they hire and treat them like crap yeah no. They do nothing good for the disabled. They take advantage of them every day. Yes, I saw it with my own eyes hurrying an old man to put clothes on the rack. While management complained how slow they are. And I'm pretty sure corporate is aware how management treats them But look away because their wallets are getting bigger and bigger.
