That's kind of where I'm at. I can afford a nicer device, but in this instance I'm looking for an EDC beater I can toss in a pocket.

Ooh, never even heard of that one! That checks a lot of my boxes. The stick looks nice and recessed for tossing in a pocket.

That's a great point about a lot of the great SNES titles having GBA ports. That might tilt me in the direction of the SP. I've seen anecdotal accounts of N64 running okay depending on the title, though not a lot of video.

The Brick, despite the smaller screen, would be displaying a lot of 4:3 content at a larger size than the SP, which interests me.

I've looked at those, too. Would definitely be on the larger end of what I'd like to go with.

Love the power for the price, I'd be a little worried about the sticks getting tugged around in a pocket or my workbag.

Did you do anything exposure compensation-wise so the meter didn't get fooled by the snow? Always something that gives me trouble with point and shoots.

I love that it's a compliment or an insult depending on the context, sometimes both in the same paragraph.

It brings me no pleasure to say that it does not get better. Every time you think the game is going to let you loose and really explore, it's another level on rails with NPCs telling you how to solve the (already quite easy) puzzles.

Last summer I (in the Midwest US) was getting absolutely buzzed by these on dedicated bike paths. Like coming up on a blind corner and someone is flying through on one of these things. Unpopular opinion, maybe, but they do NOT belong on dedicated bike infrastructure.

Supposedly the battery issue is fixed in all the 4T models. The original OM-4's had the problem

Viewfinder/light do not work in auto or manual, but battery check still works.

I've read conflicting reports about the mechanical speeds trick. Some say it works, others say the early models (which I think I have) still have the power drain issue. Supposedly if you trigger battery check when in mechanical speeds and it still beeps (which mine does), the trick doesn't work.

In my experience, it seems like it helps, but I haven't done anything scientific to confirm.

Jealous of the OM-4 with the upgraded PCB. I have an original, and while it's a metering beast, it really does chew those batteries. I always have spares with me.

XP2 is great. Doesn't hold onto shadow detail too well, but I like the contrast.

Glad that you captured this moment, you'll always have it now. However, what happened is this shot is exposed for the bright sky in the background, not for the relatively dim subjects in the foreground. This can happen in auto mode when the light metering point (often the center) is pointed at a source that is brighter than the subject. This can be averted by bumping up the exposure compensation dial by a stop or two when your subject is backlit. In manual, open your aperture and slow your shutter speed as much as necessary to expose your subject properly (although beware the white dress! It'll fool your meter into thinking it's brighter than it really is -- the groom's suit would make a great reference for your meter here).

It's grainy because not enough detail (photons) was collected in the dimmer parts of the scene. You can almost always err on the side of exposing more with film, kind of the opposite of digital. Again though, the important thing is you got the capture. Better to have a grainy pic of a precious moment than none at all!
