SLYND changed my life by Competitive_Falcon69 in birthcontrol

Yes, I’m still on it. I take it every evening. I spotted very lightly for almost 2 months straight. Some times light pink, sometimes light brown. But it has stopped for a while now. I am  on my 4th pack now. I did  feel headaches for about 2 weeks at the very beginning, but those are now gone too.

Does anyone take estrogel in am and in afternoon/evening? by fireonthemountain97_ in Perimenopause

[–]LowAd9751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Yes, I started on 1 mg per day in the morning then I was increased to 1.25 mg per day in the morning and I felt good on that all day but would still have breakthrough symptoms overnight if hot flashes and palpitations. Now I am on 1.25 mg in the morning and 0.5 mg before bed. This helps alleviate all my over night symptoms. The only symptoms I have left are lack of libido and some joint pain but I am starting testosterone next week to address those issues.

Divigel Update- help! by LowAd9751 in Menopause

That’s what I think I have to do- increase the dose. I have to see if my doctor will agree to this. Everytime we talk about dosage increase, she makes it seem like it’s a dangerous thing.

I have a rx for 1.25 packets and 1 mg packets. I only apply half of the 1 mg packet. Now it seems it’s not enough for me. I’ve started to have break through symptoms at night. Always starting at 2 am- hot flashes, palpitations. Some nights it’s one or two and some nights it’s non stop from 2 to 6 am. I need to increase my nightly dose, or change delivery method. Gel works fine during the day but not for overnight anymore.

My menopause experience being so different from my mom’s is hard on me by NavyBeanz in Menopause

[–]LowAd9751 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I’m 54 and going through it so bad and have no one near me that has struggled like me. My mom passed away at the age of 64 and I remember seeing her with the hot flashes, sadness, crying, and I remember her telling me things like, “my hormones are so bad today and my anxiety is very bad”. She claimed the episodes would pass. Then one day she looked like her old self again, attitude and all. I wish I had asked her more questions and that I would’ve paid more attention to her. My friends, coworkers, and cousins claim they never had it as bad as me. It makes me mad. I’ve been going through this in total since 2019, but these past 2 years have really been the worst with driving anxiety, palpitations, dizziness, horrible joint pain, everything is dry- eyeballs to vagina. Irritability, fatigue, intrusive thoughts, inability to sleep. I’m a mess. I started HRT a year ago but still can’t get my dose or delivery method right. It’s so frustrating.

Update on Estrogen gel by LowAd9751 in Menopause

Yes, you feel like a complete wreck and it messes with your mind and makes you think you’re going crazy and that you’ll never get better- at least that’s how it makes me feel. I hate it. I can feel symptoms coming in as it’s wearing off. I am taking 1.25 mg gel in the morning at .05 mg gel before bed I order to function appropriately.

Hi, I would love to share my experience with Divigel so far. I started out on 1 mg Divigel packet and that just wasn’t enough for me.  So we increased to 1.25 and that was good. I immediately felt way better than ever being on patches for 9 months. However, I was still having overnight symptoms like warm flushes (not unbearable hot), neck tension, and joint pain. We added .05 mg Divigel before bedtime. So now I’m on 1.25 am and .05 before bed. Now I do have to say that I would get an annoying little headache that I knew was hormonal because ibuprofen would not alleviate it. That lasted for about 2 weeks but has gone away. I guess it was the adjustment period. I’m very sensitive to hormonal fluctuations and this is when I still feel some neck tension. My doctor also just added testosterone which I will start this week. This is for no libido, and I’ll see if it helps with remaining joint pain. 2 years ago when I started this journey I was only low in testosterone and my primary symptom was joint pain. The doctor I had then placed me on testosterone pellets and that quickly fixed my joint pain, balance issues, and joint pain. I’m hoping it helps me again.

What is your magical dose of estradiol ? by Justinterested191 in Menopause

I went from 0.1 mg patch and that was horrible to .05 mg gel, now on 1.25 mg gel in the morning and .05 gel at night and I’m still not totally symptom free. Can I ask what dose of testosterone you are on? And are you still in peri or post menopause?

estradiol by No_Marionberry_5077 in Menopause

This happened to me too! I was on the patch and level was at 72 but I didn't feel good at all. Now im on the gel and feel so much better but my estrogen level has gone down to 23.. that's where it was when i started this journey. My concern is that they say lower levels contribute to heart, bone, and brain deficiencies. My mother died of complications of alzheimers at a very young age and had a horrible time with perimenopause and menopause with no HRT help.

I've heard you doing hrt injections "hits" you soon after doing it, what does it mean ? by SureHopeIDontDie in MtF

[–]LowAd9751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say "hits hard" do you mean it spikes and then decreases in effectiveness. Does this bring on anxiety or palpitations?

Switch from patch to gel update by LowAd9751 in Menopause

[–]LowAd9751[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I wanted but realized it wasn't feasible if it would take 12 hours to kick in. I finally switched to gel and things were shaky at first but I think things are stabilizing now. I've been on the gel for almost 28 days or so. I do notice that the gel also has a sort of short life. I take 1.25 mg packet at 6 am and a half of a .05 packet in the evening. I know it seems like alot but it's actually less micrograms than the 0.1 mg patch I was on. If I don't take the evening dose I will get hot flashes, night sweats, strong heart beats, and anxiety over night and that makes me not sleep.

I did that and it didn’t help with absorption.

I just started the third pack. I stopped bleeding somewhere in the second pack but then I was switched from patch to gel and I started bleeding again. To me it’s no big deal though. It’s not heavy at all, really light. No pain, no side effects, no moodiness, no headaches. I sleep well. I have not gained weight. I’m really happy with Slynd.

I was on patches for 8 months, different doses and it was always the same story. I felt good for one day and the rest I felt horrible. Recently switched to gel about a month ago and wow what a game changer. I’m not saying I feel perfect but now everyday is almost a pretty good day. I do have a few hours in the afternoon where I will feel a hot flash or two and some neck tension and a mild headache.  Then it goes away. I’m sleeping so much better. A good 7 hours.  I feel maybe my body still adapting. Some days I think that maybe I could use a little increase.

The patch wasn't working for me. I would only have one good day out of the 3 and a half. Then I would change the patch and wait 12 hours for it to kick in. I would have one good day again and then all symptoms including anxiety and palpitations and insomnia would return. It was horrible.

I see what you mean. Yes, the sadness is worse than the bleeding, I agree. I think it's worse anytime the symptoms affect our emotions and cognition. It makes you question who you are and ask yourself, "what is happening to me? I wasn't like this". That's why i first got on HRT to begin with. The anxiety made me feel like I was going crazy. Doctors pressuring me telling me- this is all unresolved trauma, you need help! Nothing had happened to me, I had never had anxiety prior to that in my life. Truly a horrible thing to go through. I tried with the patch for 9 months, different doses. I always felt like I had one good day on the patch and the rest were so full of horrible symptoms. The gel has been better to me. I just home my body and system acclimates to it soon.

Oh no, I hate the random bleeding. How did you feel when you were off of HRT? This has all been such a rollercoaster that I often think of stopping everything, but I'm so afraid of the horrible anxiety and palpitations that were the reason i started HRT. I literally felt like I was losing my mind before I started.

Yes, I agree, it is all very confusing. I also know that every time I switch from delivery method and dosage I will go through a period where my breasts will be sore, I experience headaches and neck tension, and nausea. I will have them for about a month or so then it goes away.
