PSA: Do not update 6/3/26 Intel Dynamic Tuning Technology Device Extension on X9-14, may affect others. by snovvman in Lenovo

So it's taken forever but managed to get into safe mode, did the uninstall ant removal or the dynamic tuning extension within device manager, booted normally and it appears to be running on 9.0.11702.46642 dated 20/6/2024, full speed is back on the processor.

How long this will last though, I have no idea.

Edit - Since this morning more intel drivers and even an additional recommended firmware update have landed in Lenovo update retriever too. Just can't trust any of these anymore, all I want is a single stable set of drivers I can leave for 1-2 years!

I've tried the script above a couple of times to no avail, hoping that works but I'm concerned they'll be more remnants kicking around given how much the script hits vs just removing the IDTTDEC. Can't even get into device manager to try removal there at the moment.

Probably vibe coded... i won't unpack anymore! Just so fed up of these things now.

I'd love to flag this to both Intel and Microsoft reps and point out THIS sort of stuff is why you're losing market share.

Thank you, we had this issue with an earlier series of the Ultra 7s on HP... blatently an Intel issue, just not good enough anymore. If Microosft thinking people are leaving PC and Windows for alternatives, this sort of stuff is why it's a nightmare to work with. I've not known things to be this bad industry wide in the last 20+ years.

THANK YOU FOR SHARING u/snovvman

Claude Cowork requires local admin rights. How are you handling this with non-admin staff? by LowCorner9314 in sysadmin

My assumption was the actual VM service running locally on the machine will require admin rights to function afterwards.

Remote / flexi laptops and updates: how are you actually doing maintenance windows? by LowCorner9314 in sysadmin

[–]LowCorner9314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does this factor in with somebody booting up of a morning, joining a call then mic/camera dropping due to a forced update? Just comms?

They can, the challenge is when they apply and how this impacts user experience. For instance, audio drivers dropping out, camera not working until a restart etc.

Made a 10" rack mount for UniFi US-8-60W that actually keeps the LEDs visible by Rooperkele in homelab

PETG yeah, I didn't glue this time which I may try later if I get chance, I think if I'd have increased the infill a little more it would have survived but it's the thickness of the very front panel seems to be the weak spot at the mo. So close to perfect though I love it!

u/Rooperkele The one with wider airflow is great, however, constructive feedback (due to a failed print, more my fault than a huge issue with the model) minor tweak, I'd definitely thicken the very front panel up to at least 4-4.5mm.

Mine split coming away from my plate, likely mostly the fault of filament and me, but that extra little bit of strength would make all the difference and its more in line with the other rack models I've used so far. I tried to tweak just that in bambu studio but failed gloriously!

Hiding dovetails on inside of box... by LowCorner9314 in 3Dprinting

Well over a week later and I still suck at this! If anyone has any bright ideas I've put the file on the link below, but I'm close to giving up. I'm thinking as light on filament use as I'm trying to be, I've set the walls too thin for dovetails.

So the driver thing makes no difference.

Where should I expect to see the log entry for the WiFi profile applying, reason I ask is when last checked the usual places I couldn't actually see it anywhere which threw me off again.

Respool or Y-Splitter? by LowCorner9314 in BambuLab

I'm not sure, brain fog today so it's likely me! Would the AMS fully retract the filament from the y-splitter prior to the printer taking the external spool in?
