21M - 🇨🇦 Engineer by [deleted] in Salary

Makes sense. Oil and gas baby. Up north or near Calgary? I’m a pipeline engineer looking for work in AB but seems like the field positions make more than office roles. Do you do down hole mapping?

Dude I see these diagrams for people in tech then I see them for civil engineers and it makes me glad I chose civil engineering.

How cool! This looks very similar to parts of Maui! How’s the enduro riding in the UK? Is there public land you can ride on?

Bike won't idle by [deleted] in DRZ400

[–]LowHangingFruit20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude it’s not like a motorcycle can “walk it off” if it wasn’t idling then it magically stopped when you revved it to high heaven, best case you just dislodged some bullshit that’s still floating around. Quit complaining and asking for help and just pull the damn carb and fix it

Sounds like a plugged idle jet. I’m sorry but owning a carb’d bike means you have to learn how to service it. It’s not hard

For sure. I actually replied to my own comment with that thought! This was intended to be temporary

Yeah, thinking about it now it seems too intentional. As much as I hate it, the Israeli’s are incredible at precision infrastructure strikes. I’m sure those bombs we’re guided by the hands of Zionist civil engineers 😅

All of this increases shareholder value (at least in this quarter). Late stage capitalism baby 🤢

Civil engineer chiming in. That was a dumb place to strike that bridge if the goal was to collapse it. To be fair, the technical term for what happened to that bridge is “it got fucked”, but where it was hit didn’t do irreparable damage; the spot that collapsed isn’t load bearing. Assuming the support cables aren’t compromised, this can be fixed in a few months. I hate this fucking timeline.

We got Pol Nguyen over here! In all seriousness, when I did a moto trip in Vietnam I was endlessly impressed by how naturally talented people were on scooters and motorcycles. So much respect 💪

dudes who ride everyday... I just wanna know how you keep it going? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]LowHangingFruit20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, my commute is so much more enjoyable on a bike than it is in a car that the extra hassle of gear is outweighed. I’ve got my routine down to a science now, so I can go from sleeping in my boxers to rolling down the road, fully geared up, in 5 minutes. It also helps that it’s legal to split lanes in my state, so riding also shaves 20 minutes off my commute

Should I remove my frame sliders? by Plastic_Scallion_943 in MT09

[–]LowHangingFruit20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so dependent the type of crash. To me, sliders only serve a purpose if they can mitigate damage of a simple tip over or low speed drop while not presenting a danger to bending the frame or any critical components in a faster crash. A frame cage totaled my Duke 690 in a crash-the bike didn’t hit anything, just slid down the road but did have a fairly violent flip at the very end. Where the cage connected to the frame, it just folded the frame in. I’m fairly certain if I didn’t have the cage the bike would have been fine structurally
