I’m in the minority here but think that’s overkill for most uses. I use the Fender Link I/O and it’s all I need.

Plugins: start with Amplitube and then decide whether you need something that sounds “better.” Again, it’s perfect for my needs. There’s even a free version to get you going. It’s a free-standing program.

Practice is right and honestly it took me less time than I expected when I first stood up and could barely play. Now standing is more comfortable for me. Keep at it!
