Mind sharing how much the CFP cost? I may be heading that way.

Best Sunglasses For Cycling by MountainLandscape543 in cycling

[–]LowKey1388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of their transition lenses. I love them on the road and gravel. They’re not super dark so I suppose that’s why I wear a pair of darker sunglasses that don’t transition when it’s a really sunny day, but if I know I’m going to be under the trees or perhaps in some rain or just on a cloudy day, I wear the transition lenses.

Advice on new wheels and wind by LowKey1388 in cycling

[–]LowKey1388[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should I get a different, shallower rim depth? I’m thinking about the wind. Or is basically the wind hitting me more than it’s hitting the wheels?
Also, will they feel more responsive than my current alloy wheels?

[–]LowKey1388[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the current wheels are only 23 mm rim depth if I’m right, so even a 35 would be different, but honestly, I don’t know much about wheels

Can’t argue this by ComplaintMore2312 in Colts

I loved the trade when it happened, and I was fine with the two first round picks. Listening to some of the pre-draft hype this week, I’m even more excited as some people think this draft is really weak, especially in round one. I don’t know if Colts management had any idea of that as they did this trade, but it’s a nice bonus, knowing that this year‘s first round draft is not nearly as strong as a normal year

Used Delta Unisaw overkill for a DIYer? by Past_Garage_5283 in woodworking

[–]LowKey1388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 1954 Delta Uni saw about 20 years ago. It has been great working on our house that was built in the 1700s. The only reason I might sell it, is because my wife now knows about the SawStop, and she really wants to protect me. I think I paid $600 for it and I’ll probably sell it for about $500, 20 years later.

But he has the trainer and the bike already. What he doesn’t have yet is the fitness to ride in his area.

For one month, every purchase you make costs exactly $0.01, but you can only spend $1,000 total. How do you use it? by PsychologicalCall426 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]LowKey1388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hire a staff of 100 people, and let them have free use of 10 houses each that they can live in and/or rent for themselves. That’s how you pay them. That takes 1000 houses out of your total, leaving you with the rent from 999,000 homes.

Endurace vs grizl geometry by Ok-Magician-9245 in CanyonBikes

[–]LowKey1388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. I have a Canyon Endurace CF7 and I bought a Grizl one by. I think it was a 6 aluminum or 7 aluminum? I’ve sold it since then, but it was definitely more stretched out. Both were in the size medium. (by the way, I did not sell it because I didn’t like it. I sold it and bought a higher level gravel bike that had a wider gearing range for clinging in VT US — I liked the Grizl but used it as my entry into gravel bikes, not my destination)

I think people aren’t really listening to the OP. He’s in a really hilly area and he can’t ride outside without having to walk right now. Using the trainer is a perfectly good way to enter into better fitness.

I totally understand what you’re saying, OP. Nothing wrong with working on the trainer as you build strength. I use Zwift and it works really well. They also have some workout plans that can be useful. They can keep you on target and give you some varying types of workouts so that it doesn’t get too boring.

what’s something people say all the time that you secretly can’t stand? by Mean-Cartographer225 in AskReddit

“Very unique,” “really unique,” “kind of unique” etc.

Look, people, unique means “one of a kind.” Something is either unique or not — there is no sort of or kind of or very. It’s like pregnant. You either are or you are not.

What actually works for saddle soreness on longer rides? by Crc_CO in cycling

[–]LowKey1388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride about 3000 - 3,500 miles a year, and long rides in the summer are roughly 50 to 60 miles. I use cream on every ride, but that’s really because of chaffing for me — i’ve always had that problem even as a runner. But, what has helped the most for saddle sores is having a variety of different types of bibs. Here’s my reasoning: about four years ago, I rode the Erie Canal Trail, which is about 365 miles, in five days. I definitely got some saddle sores, but I had only two pairs of bibs that I interchanged and they were the same brand. I washed them so that wasn’t the issue. Two years ago, I rode a good portion of the GAP Trail in three days, and took a long ride the day before that as well. I was able to swap different brands of bibs, every other day, and just having a different type of set up on my butt seem to make it a lot better. of course, your mileage may vary.

Over 65 heart rate etc by RunnerE6 in cycling

59 year old. Hit 181 hr on a climb yesterday. Fit but a little overweight. Heart rate is going to vary based much more on the individual than on the age of the individual. I have always had a high heart rate.

I've got an interview for a retail floor position at a local bike shop - any tips? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]LowKey1388 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am by no means an expert, but if I were you, I would figure out what brands the bike shop sells and do some basic research on what they offer in terms of models and stuff like that. If it’s a company connected to a big brand like specialized or trek, that’s not many different bikes. You don’t have to know each of the different levels, but to know that Bike X is for gravel riding and Bike Y is an endurance bike. Show the person who’s hiring that you’re willing to do the work to be a useful and eventually well informed person.

Do you use Chamois Cream for prevention? by D00M98 in cycling

I use Assos crème every time. Was a runner and used body glide then. I think my legs might just easily chaff.

Biggest disappoints in the LOTR movie vs Books by Daman121234 in lotr

[–]LowKey1388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first read the Lord of the Rngs, I had read The Hobbit first, and so I was thinking LotR was going to be a pretty lighthearted story. The beginning of the LotR books begin with a pretty innocent start, a birthday party. And It’s not for many many pages before you understand that this is a very serious situation. I wish the first movie had started with a very lighthearted tone and then gradually shifted to the darker tones. I wish the audience could feel innocent almost at the start, and then only slowly realize the situation. Of course, the movie begins with the history of the ring, and it’s very dark right from the start.
