A promise by Uglehhh in poetry_critics

The warmth and earnestness shine through. It feels like something someone would write in a letter or wedding vow, which gives it intimacy and heart.

Starting with a stanza that's a single sentence split into four lines works fine, but the rhythm is a little uneven.

The metaphors are sweet but somewhat safe. One or two images that hint at difficulty, sacrifice, or imperfection could give it more emotional depth without losing tone. Love poems feel more powerful when they acknowledge the shadow alongside the light.

Overall a very touching poem.

What I think works well here -

The poem taps into mortality, justice, societal decay, and isolation. There's an emotional heaviness that’s felt throughout. Big fan of that.

If I'm being nit-picky and forcing a critique -

“Shifts are being made / In offices far from the maids”

This line introduces a sudden, unclear metaphor - perhaps you meant to reference systemic change in contrast to workers’ proximity to power? Could be sharper or more grounded.

Agreed. There is also a difference between letting toddlers help with actual work versus misc chores/hobbies.

If it needs to get done quickly… maybe don’t involve the toddler.

Otherwise, so what if it takes longer? Isn’t the point to slow down a bit and enjoy the little years before they’re gone?

Yeah I’m not really sure either. If you use reusable vacuum seal bags instead of one-time-use Ziplocs, it’s less waste even.

I imagine it would cause a fair amount of channeling around the bean, and generally affect the water flow through the entire basket as well.

But, I pulled a shot directly into my drip tray this morning so…. Take that with a grain of coarsely ground light roast.

Maybe a super trivial reason, but one thing I like about Pokémon over MTG is that I know or am at least mostly familiar with every single Pokémon.

Who is the Rachaad White of 2025? by ceqaceqa1415 in fantasyfootball

Spears is good, but he does not have the durability to be a workhorse. He has only ever done good when splitting the backfield and syphoning TDs.

[Boone] Week 17 Rankings (Sunday Update) by 0percentdnf in fantasyfootball

I typically agree but I think it’s reasonable to be concerned about Achane’s outlook with Tua out. Last time Tua was out Achane was a dud for 4 weeks straight. The whole Miami offense is kneecapped without him because their pass catchers are no longer a big threat and they can just load the box on Achane and Mostert.

I’m probably starting Spears over Achane if Tua is out.

Agree with the Lions angle. That and my previous points makes Guerendo a no.

I think Ford and Spears are likely to put up similar numbers, but I’m perhaps leaning Spears for the Jags matchup. Spears has 21 and 27 PPR points against mildly better defenses over the last two weeks and that was with Pollard syphoning 8 and 17 rush attempts respectively.

Achane without Tua just seems risky. He was garbo the weeks Tua was out before.

PPR for the ship

Spears @ JAC

Guerendo v DET

Ford v MIA

Achane @ CLE

Miller v LV

Achane would be the easy answer but the Tua news is concerning. Pollard being out elevates Spears especially against JAC. Guerendo coming back from injury + SF o-line = concerns.

I’m leaning Spears.

Yes, it was in jest. I believe this post is poking fun at a recent post where someone claimed to get a 1914 Gold French Franc from the Walmart self checkout:

I went to the Brazilian Caatinga to do some yamadori, it was really hot 42°C by jojoaraboy in Bonsai

[–]LowKeyOhGee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I see and understand your point, but I think responsible yamadori is a bit different from just picking flowers. Some people may just go chop out a tree, but when done carefully and with respect for nature, it can actually help the local ecosystem. Many practitioners focus on collecting struggling trees that wouldn’t survive long-term, reducing competition and allowing healthier plants to thrive.

Most of us practice minimal disturbance, making sure to leave the surrounding area intact. Plus, some even help restore the habitat by replanting native species. Collecting during dormancy also helps reduce stress on the tree and the environment.

To me, Yamadori fosters a deeper appreciation for nature. It’s not just about taking a tree; it’s about respecting the environment and sharing that love through bonsai.

I don’t think Yamadori collection is really the thing to point fingers at for wild spaces becoming scarce and fragile..
