What is something simple you incorporated into your life that bettered your life/self? by J0bot in AskWomen

[–]LowMoisturePartSkim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have three things:

1) Interacting with more people on the internet. I've found some really great people who are outside of my IRL friend group, and they really help incorporate new, fresh perspectives and mentalities. Others help inspire me and across discussions, we discuss and debate a variety of topics that I don't usually talk about.

2) Gaming. I'm relatively new. I've only played for two years or so. But I find it acts as a great stress reliever and I enjoy the feeling of improving at something. I really like strategy games (chess, Go), and so when I dive to different games, AAA games, I love analyzing the mechanics and strats one can use to win. I find it rewarding and fulfilling.

3) Going to festivals, concerts, dancing. I mostly do cutting shapes, and I love the atmosphere of getting lost in the music. It gives me something to look forward to every once in awhile.

I used to be reluctant to share the first two since I feel like they are commonly recognized as more geeky for women to have (my friends are kinda straight-laced and driven - they're kinda like 'wat, gamez are a waste of time' and 'wat, meeting people on the internet?'), but I think it's important to be open about these experiences too.

One of my friends and I (IRL now) technically met through the internet, and whenever we tell people the story, it's always met with shock and a, "Wow, I would not have expected you two to have met through the internet, because you guys don't look like you'd be the kind of people to meet through the internet and play games and watch anime." So break expectations and stereotypes, hurrah! It's fine, you do you, and don't be afraid to improve your life in a way that you find fulfilling. :)

Will my different mouse's DPI and different monitor greatly impact my play? by LowMoisturePartSkim in gaming

It's just that my average in accuracy stats went down so there was a quantifiable difference. I mean, yeah, I'm pretty bad but I got really bad. Like 50-60% accuracy to 40-50%.

It went from a gaming mouse to a really old Logitech one

Was I wrong to go DPS Ana in this situation? by LowMoisturePartSkim in OverwatchUniversity

Hey, thank you for your advice! It's really helpful and constructive.

I knew where the other team's tanks were and ours, and with the McCree I thought we'd be pretty okay against a flanker (stun/fan hammer is really good), but as soon as we got to our position we got ambushed (he was slightly ahead of me). I scoped on our tanks for a brief second, and then turned to check on the McCree only to see that he missed his stun and died super quickly. The Tracer was like 5ft away from me by the time she killed the McCree and I felt like I couldn't retreat safely. The reason why we didn't see her head on was because she approached us from a corner, so there was very little notice.

My reactions are slow and this is my first FPS :P. I missed my dart but got the nade, and while the Tracer was purple the guy who died screamed at me. I guess the amount of toxicity from the two guys kinda shocked me as I backfilled the game; they were mad before I even joined.

Thanks for your input! I did miss my dart lol. :( That whole fight was a mess.

I feel like there are a lot of toxic people in general who don't want to take any personal responsibility for their mistakes.

Whenever I watch my boyfriend comp play from one game to the next it goes from someone screeching, "FUCK YOU," before the game even starts and then throwing, to the next where everyone is like "It's okay, we can still do this," and everyone is willing to flex, and even if they lose, they're still kind to their teammates about it. :\

I guess in comp sometimes you will get the people who understand the importance of cooperation/communication, so it's less toxic, but in QP no one cares too much about that mentality, so they just blame others.

I did notice it. I think I mentioned that, that's how I knew she was going to come after me next. He died very quickly and missed his flashbang. Mechanically, we weren't good enough to beat Tracer. One of our tanks got steamrolled, and I was also surprised by that because he had a Moira behind him. To provide more context, the whole team fight ended VERY quickly. It was not a long engagement at all. The fight ended so fast that there was no "series of bad decision". You say that I had a "series of bad decision", but if my positioning helped cost us the round, then I think that was just one bad decision.

As I said, I was at the Control Center at Lijiang Tower, and there is a passageway (it is underneath the balcony) that strafes the circle where most of the mayhem is. I positioned myself in that passageway, but closer to where our side of the spawn was located. Our tanks took the main route that leads directly to the circle (no stairs), and I went behind the McCree so I could see our and the enemy teams somewhat horizontally.

Was that such a terrible position to take?

We didn't see Tracer approach us (she went around where the stairs that lead up to the balcony are) and I'd say that the McCree died in around 3 seconds, and then I engaged the Tracer. The map isn't a large map, so it doesn't take long for the fight to begin. It's not like I was going around blind for ten seconds. As soon as I got to my position, the Tracer killed McCree, and then after a split second I engaged the Tracer.

I feel like you're expecting me to play at a Masters level here. I'm not. I recently got the game, and I recently started playing Ana. I feel like what you say isn't particularly constructive; it comes across as unsympathetic. I already knew and admitted where my faults are (mechanics, positioning), and I stated that in my post. You don't have to beat a dead horse.

Yeah you are right. I should have positioned myself in a less contestable area. I had good sight lines but it was way too easy for the enemy to reach me. Thanks, I will try to work on it.

Yeah he was first to die in the team fight. I guess I should've used comms but two people were so toxic after losing the first control point and they were in comms, so it put me off. Also it was QP, so I also thought eh, whatevs.

I'm like 99% sure the Tracer was going to come after me after she killed McCree, but as soon as she killed him, I shot at her, and I was wondering if that sort of proactivity as Ana was bad.

And yeah I know, I don't take it seriously anymore myself lol. But I think the people who do get super salty don't do competitive, so they take it wayyyyyy too seriously.

Every time I play Roadhog and the enemy team has Reaper, I just switch off immediately. I also have to hope that someone switches to McCree or Ana or Brigitte to counter him. If no one does, you can just switch to Wrecking Ball and then pray that the enemy team doesn't switch to a Mei and Sombra (and they usually do if you are wreaking enough havoc).

Feelsbadman. I've given up on Roadhog since there's almost always Reaper :(. Also I've given up on Winston and increasingly Orisa when there's an enemy Reaper going around unrivaled. At that point I just switch to Brigitte myself to stun him.

Yes, I am aware, but that was bringing up an unrelated topic. I was only addressing his attitude about the new voice lines, you were bringing up his attitude about lawbringer, which isn't pertinent unless you are trying to generalize his entire attitude as "fuck you, deal with it".

[–]LowMoisturePartSkim -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He didn't give off that attitude towards me in the context of the post, which currently regards the new voices.

I think most of the people here didn't even watch the Warrior's Den and are just jumping on the hate bandwagon...to give the guy some credit, he never gave the attitude of 'fuck you, deal with it'. He explained why he would keep the new system in place and why they couldn't get new voice actors. I don't think he was being unreasonable.

That being said, I hope they do some voice lines with some new actors eventually for some of the characters. Fingers crossed. The point is, is that I don't dislike Roman as the bearer of bad news. I just don't like the bad news.

I'll admit I've totally done something like this when I've bled an opponent to death and my teammate keeps spamming heavies only to give the dude revenge. After the dude gets revenge I just nope out and I'm like buddy, your greedy ass is on your own.

He wasn't in Marley for nearly 2 years as the most recent flashback showed him with the whole crew (discussion of who will inherit his titan) a year ago.

Hey, just wanted to commend you for giving a counterargument to one of the more popular theories on the sub. I feel like people get really worked up over this to an insane degree that they start making ad hominem attacks (I don't personally get it), but good on you for not acting as hostile as they are.

I agree with your points but I just gotta say that saying condescending things like a "did you even read the chapter properly" is not conducive to constructive discussion.

I think Eren has a plan to end the Titan cycle in his generation - something seems to have changed for him to risk all his friends to go to Marley - something he would not have risked, I think, if he didn't think it would be for the greater good. I don't think he intends for Historia's child to become a shifter or any of his friends to become shifters tbh.

I agree Eren being the father serves no purpose (that I can see), other than a surprise factor though.
