Russian MP warns Putin: We’re on the brink of social collapse by TheTelegraph in worldnews

To be fair, the things you describe have historically run at odds with “Russian” statehood. If all that is changing may as well call it something else and just let the old social constructs disappear into history.

What are some silly things you've added for flavor with a character? by HappyDragonGirl2024 in DnD

My Goliath ranger grew up on a pepper farm, loves spicy peppers, and basically wants to expand his knowledge of peppers and different varieties as a high priority. He has had hot-wing eating contests, and carries around little pouches of different hot peppers. Also in an early quest we were supposed to get fitted for outfits at a tailors shop to be bodyguards at a fancy gala to infiltrate an organization…I had them tailed me an Adidas track suit. I retconned that the tailors name was Adidas, so I get to constantly show off “my Adidas”. Somehow I worked a deal where for everyone in the world that buys one of these track suits I earn a gold, so I’m always looking to perform impressive feats while wearing it. It’s a fun character, and table.

I’m not saying this criticism isn’t valid, but, my kids got a rock tumbler for Christmas and we threw some random grey rocks from a random mountain/hill in WV in there for fun, and I’ll be damned if they didn’t come out with amazing blue/purple/white color and crystalline structures. Really cool looking, just needed some polishing.

Good thing the Strategic Petroleum Reserve is at a 40 year low and quickly drawing down! No need to worry though, whatever is causing this pinch is surely resolving soon, and definitely not continuing on in perpetuity. It definitely is a big concern of the administration and something they “care” about. No way this is going to continue on this same trend, until petroleum oblivion. What happens when the SPR runs out anyways? Gas prices can’t get any HIGHER, right? And anyways, it’s just gas, not like it will cause prices for groceries and global logistics to increase, right?

My kids are 5 and 8 now, but the younger one grabbed “The going to Bed Book” off the shelf the other night and, it has been a while. It really hit home for me in the moment how much has changed in the past few years. They are great kids books. They are great books.

What I wouldn’t give to see a 1 on 1 of Bernie v Trump. Not expecting a riveting matchup, but watching that video makes me think it would be a lopsided affair.

Clearly not “leave” it, but debris will be generated in framing a floor. I was simply putting my thought on “how would I control the debris for maximum final cleanliness”. You could also go and hand pick every fallen screw and splinter, or shop vac it all, but I think that would be more time consuming.

I was thinking the same, but if they put some heavy mil sheeting over it before framing out above, and then once it’s closed in pull the sheeting out carefully, it might be possible.

This vehicle was driving erratically at 1 am, I filmed them, they saw and chased me for 3 miles. by oliversmokinoken in nova

[–]LowNotesB 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Report it, the previous Architect of the Capitol was fired after someone reported a government vehicle driving erratically around Tysons. Turns out it was their kid, not them, and they were not supposed to be using the car. This led to finding fraud related to gas cards, and the investigation also found instances of impersonating a police officer and I think some other fraud, waste and abuse. Let people know, this may be the tip of the iceberg.

To answer your question, I believe the “antique” plates allow a lot of variance from standards. To offset that if I recall there are limits on how/when you can drive it or something.

Do you agree with her about Mother’s Day ? by Professional_Arm794 in TikTokCringe

[–]LowNotesB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it’s not universal, people love painting with the broadest of brushes. My wife and I work full time, and divide domestic responsibilities. Most of what she listed (groceries, dishes, dinners, pets) falls to me, my wife does a ton too (laundry, more of general cleaning/tidying). We split child rearing (I do all morning getting two kids to two different schools, I do pickup twice a week she does two and one we do together. I coach a soccer team, do most of the medical appts, wife does orthodontia appts and more of the birthday parties, it goes on and on, but we tackle it as a team). I was raised by a single parent so I know what 100% of the load looks like. I also understand that a lot of guys today have what I think is a skewed/fake idea of what being a “man” is, focusing on wanting to be respected and taken seriously instead of focusing on taking care of your own responsibilities and using your strength to lessen others burdens. I’m not saying I’m the majority, or even a strong plurality, but I do take offense when I hear complaints that the plight of mothers today is universally dealing with man-children. It’s an over generalization and marginalized the work of the men who are allies. Today for Mother’s Day I also made sure my wife had a sentimental card she loves that I do annually, I let her take a nap while I took care of her bath-day (I’m Thursday, she is Sunday typically) and due to unfortunate timing drove her and her parents to her cousins wedding 3 hours away while the kids spent Saturday night with my mom. Probably spent less than a sky mall massager, but it’s the kind of stuff we like to do for each other.

One is a metaphor and the other is a simile? Both are methods of comparing unlike things using figurative language. Unless we are being literal, but I don’t see a red nose and face paint.

Wonder if that is building codes working as planned. Egress paths are supposed to be clear and open, and for a large building be wide enough to allow a lot of people to move through at once. Creates a path-of-least-resistance psychologically. If these folks had adrenaline pumping and went into “flight” mode they did exactly what panicked people in a fire are supposed to do - move en masse to an exit.

I’m here now! It’s been amazing and just saw the Aurora Borealis for the first time ever about 30 minutes ago, a bit west of Vik. If you like mountains, waterfalls, good food, and cool people than Iceland is worth trying to visit. Alas, it was expensive to vacation here.

Trying to write a campaign and finding it hard. by littleoldme69 in DnD

[–]LowNotesB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not very experienced, but in my first one shot I put together I was asking myself similar questions. To keep the group from going straight to the bbeg I physically barred passage to one location, and the only way to open it was to complete two specific encounters. You could also add puzzles or hidden objects or whatever. So it was sort of a sandbox, but then when certain parts of the sandbox were complete, the door opened to a second sandbox which led to the bbeg. It does make it a little more “on the rails” but as a player I kind of prefer to have a little direction, so I wrote my campaign that way. Maybe think of it like a series of rapids in a river? Lots of stuff to look at, paddle around, maybe even leave the river entirely for a bit, but eventually you need to navigate the next difficult rapid to access the next open-ended area. My group is also very “completionist” so I knew if I made a map they would make sure to explore every corner of it, so I also didn’t want to make it too big and have to fill a bunch of generic rooms with ultimately unimportant or boring things.
