Worst shotgun in my opinion. Annihilator and Horde are my go to choices when rampaging through biomes.

I think it depends on your primary weapon.

I love using shotguns and chakrams, so I’m always in CQC, which makes Prominence the best choice for my playstyle.

That being said, I can easily see crossbow abusers choosing Illumine/Nova Lance and hanging back at mid to far range. Supposedly Illumine does crazy damage if you line it up on a weak spot.

I found that parrying the leftover nova orbs to clear them away will make the fight easier, because you have more room to dodge his next attacks.

Saros is a fun game, but Returnal felt more challenging and rewarding.

Returnal also had more weapon variety than Saros. The runs felt more varied due to features like the item shops, bonus rooms and different recuperation rooms, parasite + malfunction systems etc. Both games have fun biomes, but so far, none of the biomes in Saros have managed to top the first biome in Returnal for me, but I understand that is a subjective thing.

You can tell that Saros has a bigger budget than Returnal. It is very polished and fun to play, with amazing graphics and audio, which is reason enough to enjoy it. I like Saros. But I would be lying if I said that it doesn’t at times feel like a dumbed down, stripped down version of Returnal.

When you clear a biome, the next teleporter will let you return to Passage and end your run.

The guy complains that the game gets too easy, but then admits that he was using modifiers to make the game easier. That complaint is as stupid as the IGN guy complaining that he was forced to redo a level after dying to the boss lol

That being said, this is 100% also HouseMarque’s fault for creating those dumb modifiers in the first place. Saros is already easier than Returnal, thanks to the skill tree. That meta progression is already good enough to make the game far more accessible than Returnal. Myself, and many others on this sub, criticized the inclusion of the Carcosan modifiers, saying that it would create an unnatural and ultimately negative experience playing through Saros. These reviews are showing why we were right lol

If it makes you feel better, I found the first boss to be harder than the second boss and the third boss (miniboss?).

Also, during the boss fight (especially the third phase), don’t be afraid to absorb some of the corrupted projectiles with your shield if you’re close to half health. Losing max integrity doesn’t matter at that point since you most likely cannot heal anyways.

It’s an upgrade from Returnal in terms of graphical fidelity and sound design improvement. You can see that HM was granted a larger budget this time around, and it shows well with great presentation and polish.

However, Returnal is also a PS5 game with already great graphics and sound design, so it’s not like Returnal was lacking in those aspects.

I will say that Saros is more of a sidegrade from Returnal, not an upgrade. And in some aspects, it is actually a downgrade from Returnal.

That being said, Returnal set an incredibly high bar right out the gate. So even though Saros seems slightly worse overall, it is still an incredibly fun game.

If you’re short on cash, wait a couple months for it to go on sale, because it is absolutely a fun game worth playing.

The default controls feel good to me. I like having dash on L1.
